Bumpsteer kit

How low can a car be dropped before it would benefit from one? Or could it benefit at stock height?

Re: Bumpsteer kit

Mine is dropped 1.75" up front & I don't feel the need for one, on good roads.

i think your ok untill about 2" stay away from the spohn bump kit, mine had way to much slop in it, and actually made the steering loose

Re: Bumpsteer kit

Don't know how far until you "need" one, but I felt a huge difference in steering control after installing mine. Before I installed mine it was fine on smooth roads, but on anything with any bumps, it was an adventure. I have the Baer kit installed on mine.

Good thinking. Talk about how you don't need a BUMPsteer kit because the car is fine on good roads. That's a classic.

Re: Bumpsteer kit

I recently put together a set for my car and it did make a difference. The alignment is still a little out though. Probably wont get that fixed until spring.

Re: Bumpsteer kit

Ride height really has nothing to do with it.

The tierod swing has to match the arch of the A-arm swing. This can vary simply from an aggressive alignment on a factory ride height.

The more caster gain (stagnant and dynamic) the more the need to lower the outer tierod so that it marries the a-arm arch at mid articulation to allow for least change through travel.

Re: Bumpsteer kit

The next question is, "well, how much does it need adjusted?"

Have any of you that installed this bump your car to find out? Or are you just putting this on there and hoping for the best?

You need to have the car bumped to find out, you may have gone for 1/8" in to 1/4" in----to---- 1/8in to 1/16 out for all any of you know unless you have gauged it.

Re: Bumpsteer kit

honestly, mine was "eyeballed". Took some measurements, and got a baseline, but i have to get everything setup properly later, probably in the spring when the car gets out again.
