The only rear-end that will bolt up is one that's specifically for a third- or fourth-gen F body. Anything else requires fabrication or suspension modification.

A search for IRS , Independent rear end , corvette rear end , should all show up in a search and find this post for people now.

I have a TON of other 3rdGen pic's on my site also so will mirror the pic's there also.

They yellow one is the one I remember seeing years ago as well. I've desperately tried to find them online again and can't find them anywhere. I know they used to be on this site, but I think the links are dead now. he is the only other guy I've seen besides myself that re-used the corvette trailing arms. If I recall the yellow car is a convertible with no roll bar, so I'd like to see how he reinforced the trailing arm boxes.

There are pics of another thridgen running around on here but they are all undercarriage shots with the car on the ground and you can't really see how anything was done.

Huh... Ok, what the heck was all the noise in that other thread about?

I like how your main hoop fits... is that custom bent or is that from a kit?

OH duh, you're talking about the pictures TPI 383 posted. He saved those while my other thread was still up. I can't control what he posts, he saved them on his own. All I can say is that the project is quite a bit farther along now than the pix show.

I'm on probation and can't edit my posts. I don't know what that proves but whatever

The main hoop is custom, as is the rest of the roll bar. Nothing was "store bought"

No, its for my C3. I sent you a reply on PM.
I just posted that as an example of what a great aftermerket Vettes have. The C4 setup from the factory are very nice. The only real weakness is the rear tierods flexing. Just replace them with solid hiem links. I read your post and you are alot better off using the coilovers than the upsidedown leaf. The leafs "unload' the rearend faster on heavy braking and corner set. They are heavy duty though for massive HP which I run. I have always driven my Vette with lots of throttle induced rotation. Years ago I developed a clamp setup for my leaf springs. Guldtrand copied my design and sells them (I used to reace for DickGulstrand, I have known him since I was a young kid, I grew up on THunder Alley in Culver City many a days running through his shop. I raced on his Solo team back in 87-93 and basically had no competition so I never further developed my rear suspension past the multiple sets of rear leafs we combined to get the feel on the rear I needed for stabilty- I ended up clamping them and fond they helped not unloading in lateral set- god help me once I had a clamp break and I spun at about 95mph in a high speed left hand sweeper. I went around twice- what a ride, I will never forget that, I was about 24 at the time. Luckily I didn't hit anything and stayed fairly centered on the track as it spun. I was amazed how I could control the car's position even though I could not stop the spin- but I never whant to try that purposely.

ps- Diick still has a picture of my Vette in his gallery webpage;
http://guldstrand.com/gallery_04.asp

In the second pic you can see my leaf spring clamps. I can adjust spring rate slightly by repositioning them laterally

As nice as the guldstrand setup is (I have one new in the box lying here) the greenwood setup was just a tad nicer IMO. The guldstrand piece uses 2 widely spaced lower camber rods where the toe is set and controlled by the front rod setting in respect to the rear. The greenwood setup was more like the C4 setup but it used properly located and sized toe control rods, not a center hung/mount setup with long toe rods like the C4 has (which is only accurate around static ride height with the rods around horizontal for reduced angular effect on effective horizontal component, much like the issue with the panhard bar in lowered cars) The guldstrand setup does have this beautiful siomplicity. Getting the 2 camber rods right is a no brainer and having them control the toe is down right genius. The greenwood setup was a lot more difficult to design as the toe control rod had to be in the same plane as the halfshaft and have length and pivot locations that geometrically work with the halfshafts to properly and accurately control toe throughout susp. travel. The greenwood stuff is all fabbed from stock and sheet metal. The Riley/Scott Protofab unit was like that too. The GS one has nice cast hubs as you know, excellent quality Only downside IMO is that GS doesn't recommend running coil overs on it. With a support bracket it might be doable.

Even nicer is the Greenwood adjustable double a arm suspension with coil overs. IMO that is the pinnacle of aftermarket C3 suspensions. Too bad it's not available and pretty rare. There's a somewhat molested C3 w/ greenwood GT body on ebay every now & then. I think it's the real deal as it still has some of the greenwood specific items like a boost gauge (now has a big block), the badges wheels, body panels and most interesting this very same sheet metal fabbed a arm susp

Nice vette you have there explains the name vetruck
