front suspension, what to replace?

ok so i tried to find out why my steering was centered when the steering wheel was cocked to the right a little. i started to look for anything loose on the front end.
i was pushing on the left part of the center link and was able to move it upwards. the red circle is where i can push upwards (like it goes up 3 inches). do i need a new centerlink or are there like rubber pieces that just need replacing? (sorry if i sound a little confusing im just kind of new with the terminology). thanks for your time.

Re: front suspension, what to replace?

#6 is the idler arm, if you can push up on it that much something is broken, or the bolts are loose that hold it to the frame. Steering being off can be from bent parts, or the tie rods 11,12,13 being adjusted wrong, one side longer than the other.

if everything is original, consider replacing everything. 2, 6, 11, 12, 13. they are all most likely worn out.

I agree. You can check those bolts from under the hood. The center link is supposed to be essentially level (+/- 1 mm, IIRC) from side to side. If the link has as much travel as you suggest, I'd think the bump steer would be awful and potentially dangerous.

Re: front suspension, what to replace?

Time to replace all the front steering items. Nothing lasts forever and needs replacement. Spohn Performance has a nice kit available for one stop shopping for the front end,or you can chase down the parts yourself.
