BMR vs UMI Subframe Connectors

I would like to get some weld on Subframe Connectors but I do not know what to get.

Are UMI SFC's better than BMR SFC's or they just the same?

Let me put it this way. SFC are some steel tubing that welds to your car. There's really no real difference with one or the other. Just get the one that's better priced. Read the specs for each. Go with the one that seems to be the stoutest. If they are too similar then go with the cheapest.

Re: BMR vs UMI Subframe Connectors

Hello, our weld in connectors are made from 2" x 1 1/2" dom .120 wall steel. They reinforce the front rear lower control arm mounting point which add strength to the rear suspension. The connectors also weld in multiple points along the floor and front subframe to tie it all together. We offer two different styles, one for an oem style exhaust and the other for full length headers. Here is a link to our site. If you have any questions please let me know.

Hello
Thanks for considering UMI Performance! We do offer a weld on SFC' that reinforces the control arm mount. And welds in multiple locations. And as long as you are not running any cats you should not have any issues with clearance with the exhaust. That is why we offer the bracket not connected so you are able weld on the frame to make sure there is no clearance issues. Below is a link to show you what all UMI Performance has to offer and gives the specs on the material as well.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask!
Thanks

Re: BMR vs UMI Subframe Connectors

Ok I have to chime in here. I am doing new pans, cage, replacing sfc's and a ton of other stuff. I took off Jegs sfc's which hugged the pan and pinch rail like GM installed them but I didn't want to bolt the front through my new pans. So I shopped every brand I could find, UMI, Spohn, BMR and on and on. I ordered the BMR SFC008H because they offered the version for headers that were one piece for each side. I opened the box yesterday and mocked them up by hanging them from the lca mount at the rear and supported them in position at the front. These are the most terrible fitting things I have ever tried to install on my car. They are atleast a half inch inboard of the rocker pinch rail and the drivers side hangs more than an inch below the pinch rail and the passenger side you can see a quarter of an inch of light between the sfc and the pinch rail! That's right, the top of the sfc is below the pinch rail! These things only touch the car at the lca's at the rear and at the front frame adjacent to the transmission, everywhere else they are floating in mid air. I am so disappointed in the fitment of these that they will never go on my car, these cars are low enough without losing another 1"+ to something that should fit against the floor pan! Buyer Beware!

Re: BMR vs UMI Subframe Connectors

and we'll let them each use a set of there own SFC's as weapons, then we'll know which brand is better

the BMR and UMI SFCs are almost identical and i lost no ground clearence what so ever using the UMI connectors??????? mine are close enough to the floor pan where i was able to run the pinch welds????? maybe BMR and UMI are different after all, i can't see what aerosmith could be talking about????

Re: BMR vs UMI Subframe Connectors

O.K. so we will be getting SFCs most likely next spring.
I always thought SFCs were to become an actual part of the floor pan?!?

I mean--what got trimmed out was replaced by the SFC & became said portion of the area.??.

Or is that not true for 3rd gen F-body cars???

I was thinking about looking at S&W SFCs. I don't recall the TGO member who got them, but it put a bug in my brain!!

Of course, BMR, Spohn, & UMI are also on the list of looky-loo!!

Re: BMR vs UMI Subframe Connectors

Hello
With our SFC's they mount to the frame itself and are close enough. That some guys to stitch weld along the pinch weld (which there for becomes part of the floor pan). If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
Thanks
Brad
