Re: KYB GR-2 Vs. Monroe Sensa-Trac

Go with the KYB gr-2's and forget the the other crap strut. I went with KYB gr-2 struts & KYB gas-adjust shocks, because I did not want to break the bank buying the B or K brands. They are a very good upgrade over the wore out factory originals.

Re: KYB GR-2 Vs. Monroe Sensa-Trac

Thanks for the input! The way are cars ride like bricks and knowing struts are a key ingredient to helping that. I thought I would have gotten alot more imput on this. Any opinion on $70-$100 struts? I have heard good things about the GR-2's but when I bought my current $45 struts(Gabrials). VERY DISSAPOINTED with the Gabrials! Hessitant in buying $45 struts again....

Re: KYB GR-2 Vs. Monroe Sensa-Trac

I have the factory junk on my 87 trans am and im looking at the exact same 2 options.

The AGX is the best shock that KYB makes however, they only make a rear version of it for our cars.

The GR-2's are a step down from the AGX so they are going to be your best bet. Personally, i dont like monroe's stuff, looks cheap to me.

I have a set of bilsteins on the rear of my daily driver 04 titan and they are GREAT shocks. Combined with coilovers on the front, the truck rides great. The car feels like there are no struts anymore. Im going to be buying new struts/shocks as well as putting the lowering springs on it once i get back to work.

I have heard nothing but good things about KYB GR2's, and I personally have them on my car. I have, however, heard bad things about monroe.

Go with KYB.

They make the AGX for the fronts. Part #735001. They want around $133.00 a piece for them.... That gettin' a little steep for my wallet though! Would like to find quality between 70 and 100 bucks. The search continues.............

Re: KYB GR-2 Vs. Monroe Sensa-Trac

That's a good price, it's like buying the struts and getting free shocks.
I am running the GR-2/Gas-a-just combo on my car and they are great, but I have low profile tires and lowering springs so my car is very rough on most streets here in VA. It's awesome on smooth highway though.

Re: KYB GR-2 Vs. Monroe Sensa-Trac

I just ordered all new sense a trac's . it depends on what you are going to do with your car , I don't race drag or autocross so i felt I didn't need the aggressive stuff . That's just my opinion I got new springs shocks/struts and strut plates from rock auto for 390.00 plus monroe is do a rebate for 50.00 right now.

I dont race, or autocross, either. I put the KYB's on my daily driver, and they made a world of difference in drive quality, but the lowering springs changed that, lol.

So the GR-2's is the concensus..... Thanks for all the input. As I stated earlier I was hessitant in buying $45.00 struts again and felt I should be spending more..... The $45.00 Gabrials I bought suck!

7 years of hard driving and my struts/shocks still perform decent. I've got almost 100K miles on them.

Re: KYB GR-2 Vs. Monroe Sensa-Trac

So if I am following correctly. With my all stock 91' WS6 I should be more than good with the GR-2's. I haven't lowered it or anything along those lines. Thanks again for all the input.....

I would suggest the KYB gas-adjust shocks. Most people who buy the GR-2 struts also upgrade the rears to the gas-adjust shocks. Not that much more dollar wise.

I should of been more clear. GR-2's will be fine for the front. That is all I'm concentrating on now....
