HELP!, my brakes are making a loud grinding noise.

Sometimes when i am stopped or slow to a stop they make this horrible loud grinding noise. It happens more often when i'm stopped and beging to back up. I've took the wheels off and soaked them w/ break cleaner several times but it has no effect. The rear brakes are the ones that make the noise, i just had them put on w/ my rear-end, so they haven't been used in a while. This noise is really annoying and i want to locate the cause so i can fix it. Thanks in advance for any help.
Brad

Pull them apart and inspect everything. Just because they were put on recently doesn't mean everything is ok. If the pads are worn out then replace them. Inspect everything else for wear marks. A noise like that should leave some sort of wear indication.

If a shop installed them take it back and tell them to fix it properly.

... also make sure thepads are installed in the correct manner. They have a small metal tab on one side to indicate low pad, maybe it was bent, and/or installed on the wrong side.

I checked the pads, they look good and they are on right. Someone told me today that I might need to rebuild my calipers, does this sound like it could be the solution?

I had a problem with horrible screaching/ metal on metal grinding noise right after i put new rotors on. So i took it all apart and noticed that the metal tab on the pads was bent in, so i just bent it out and problem solved. Also, it only make the noise when i was driving, it would go away when I would brake.
