Which of these tires have better traction?

I really need to get some big tires by end of next week. I'm down to four choices right now, so please help me decide.
All for a 16x8 rim:
1)BF Goodrich Radial T/A 265/50/16
2)BF Goodrich Radial T/A 295/50/16
3)BF Goodrich Drag Radials 255/50/16
4)Mickey T's Sportsman Pro 27x11.5-16
Obviously, i'm not concerned about handling as much as traction, so with that said, how bad will the car handle with the 295 tire as that's my #1 choice right now. I have 3.73's and a 406 motor that spins tires starting from 2nd gear right now (with a T-5). That's really not good. The best i could get 0-60 on a g-tech was a 5.9s, and that's not even using 1st gear cause its practically useless. The Mickey T's would be a nice choice but the car is driven daily so how long will they last?
Between the 265 T/A and the 255 Drag Radial, i've heard that the Drag Radial has a better grip, but the 265 is taller, so which one of those would give better traction?
I can't find any other tires out there above 255 for a 16"rim, so please advise me or vote for one of the above. Sorry for the long post, Thanks.

I wonder when the T-5 is gonna blow.

previously 88 TBI, 0-60 7.0 s. Now totalled, go to member's rides for more details as i'm selling all the parts off of it.

Nittos, seem to be the best as fas as traction, decent rain tire, and the wear is in the 10k to 15k range, and the cost for the 245/50/16 is 129.00 per tire, pretty hard deal to beat, Plus they corner well

All I can add is that the Radial T/A's are 40,000 miles tires for a reason. The traction is not very good at all.

Custom 3 inch single into 2 2.5 pipes. 1 1/2 drop springs, 1 5/16 solid front sway bar, 1 inch rear bar, custom subframe connectors, custom LCA relocation brackets. Kobel ground FX, currant red metallic paint. Lots of other stuff...

I don't think a 295 will fit your 16x8 rim. I am and always will be partial to Goodyear.

I recommend the Goodyear GSC in a 255/50/16. Not going to compare to MT slicks or drag radials, but for all around, all weather handling, can't beat em. They do wear out kinda fast tho.

The BF Goodrich Radial TA 275/65/16 just came out for sale and i think that's what i'll go with. I know its pretty tall, but that's just what i need and no other tire will be as tall as this one for the 16x8 rim. Let me know what you guys think. thanks.

275/65 are real tall!!! Would this not effect speedo reading?

I want to put 295's on my IROC rims too!!

Unfortunately you can't have the traction I know you're looking for and drive on the tires everyday. I'd say the drag radials would "hook" the best from what you've listed but they will wear out too quick for everyday use. I've also heard that MT sportsman I's sucks for traction. I don't know if the Pro's are the same but if so I'm guessing they're not great. Best bet is tires for driving and another set of "real" tires, like ET Streets for those weekend cruise encounters $$

If you are looking for the ultimate in grip, then it has to be Bridgestone SO1,2 or the new SO3.
While the SO3 are not yet out here in the UK ,Ive noticed that Tire Rack in the USA have them.
Ive got 18"SO1s on my Transam at they are just the best

cheers

I would definately go with the MT Sportsman pros They are a slick with a tread pattern in them they hook like velcro!!!!! My friend had them on my car when he owned it and couldn't break the tires loose at the track. He also got 12,000 miles out of them and didn't take it easy on them on the street.

Holy sh!t 295 65 thats truck size, thats way to big. The biggest you should go is 255 50. Or should I say what will still look good. 295 65 will look like crap. And GSC's suck I had them on my 94 T/A and they didn,t stick at the track or on the street. BFG Comp T/A's or G-Force's are the way to go.

I think you'd be better off getting two sets of rear tires. Get one pair for daily use in a 245 or 255 50/16.

Then I'd get some 15x8 rims and slap on either BFG Drag Radials or MT ET Streets or some other type of all out slicks and use them strictly at the track.

mt sportsman pros are good tires they hook real well at the track.but after you reach the 1/4 mile slowing down sucks a lot of rear end wobble! on the other hand bfg hook awsome and don't wobble as much. my bfg's have one auburn posi blown under there belt. but neither tire is a good every day tire no tread wear and suck in the rain
