I was going to buy a steering rebuild kit from A1, Spohn or Moog. I tried putting my own together on the summit website and came up with the following:

I found out that "Auto Extra" and Movetech are the same company and come from Canada. Other than that, nada...



I didn't add the lower ball joints because I think they came with my new UMI a-arms. It is not shown, but they also have an idler arm. I can use the money that I'm saving for alinement.

Has anyone used parts from this company?

I've used the tie rod ends. They appear to be built as well as the Moog or TRW ones I have used in the past. So far so good.

i read in a posting somewhere were a guy really recommended Mevotech. i looked them up and they appeared to be just as good of quality and roughly half the price of Moog, or Spohn (which i believe are re-branded Moog's).

(I've always been a fan of Spohn, but have read lot of posts with people having issues with their quality. my experience with them was back when they specialized in third gens only, and apparently things have changed and people have had a lot of issues with them, which steered me away from them).

i decided i would give Mevotech a try as all my steering components were shot and at half the price i figured if they were crap at least i didn't spend a ton on them. if they worked, then i found a good vendor with better prices. i saw it as a win win.

i received all my parts from the rock auto fairy, but haven't had a chance to install them yet as i'm waiting to on some other suspension stuff to be ordered. the one thing i can say from initial inspection is that the website depicted everything coming with the blue grease caps - not all my stuff came with the blue caps (some where black). i was kind of looking forward to it, because it would look different, but i'll just have to swap them out with the red ones that came with my Poly-kit to keep it all looking the same.

1 more company that I don't know much about...

PST

They have tube A-arms, LCA, Panhard, Subframe Connectors, steering linkage, tie rod sleeves and a lot of other suff for thirdgens.... But no matter how much I search, I cannot find any info on them.

Are they reselling another brand as PST? Can anyone shed some light on this?

I bought a Movetech center link, made in China. I'd do more research and try and find American made parts. They're worth the extra money.

ppl act like no bad products can be made in america! lol! Tons of bad products come from USA, just like tons of good products come from china. You should try a product before you doubt it. Everyone I asked (on a few diff sites) have good things to say and on top of that, it's sold at summit!

Thank you!!!!!! For this post! I'm looking at replacing the exact same parts on mine and was trying to figure out what to do, I was not wanting to drop 250$ pluss on new parts. Please let us know what you think if the parts when you get them!

$150 for movetech + free shipping from summit

it's worth a shot, if the parts look bad I will just send them back

I just read that the black bushings are the redesigned joints, the blue bushings are Crap from what I've read.

Check Rock Auto. i bought my Idler from them along with all the other parts.

i don't have the parts installed yet (still waiting to order other stuff to have it all done at once when i go get an alignment), but tonight when the kid goes to bed i'll lay them out on a table take a picture and post it up.

if the blue are crap it's ok. the idea was to go outside the box and try something different. sometimes in doing that you find really good vendors with good quality parts for less. other times they are crap.... never know till you take that first step. if it turns out they are crap if it buys me a year of time then it's worth it and i'll redo it next year. right now though all my stuff is so loose you can see the grease fitting wabbeling on almost every joint... can't be any worse then what i currently have.

iv used Movetech steering parts.. orderd from rock auto.
all the parts are made in Canada. (one box had printed in China)

have cut them in Half in the past, with a band saw. to check them out with the AC/GM parts.. steel is thicker and they have the same make up has Moog tie rod ends (only Cut one up)
also got black and blue dust covers in the last batch. same parts just diff covers. had all parts Gold zink plated. rust free for life!

you can go to Movetechs web site and check out there stuff
dont mix it up with a china based compy. with the same name spelling.
dont think they sold out yet...they dont make fuel pumps and brake pads..like the china based comy..

IN THE PAST the Blue dust covers had Black parts parkerized. under the black epoxy.
nice looking parts. the black dust covers. had just parkerized parts. no epoxy finnish.
same parts.. just diff finnish can and will post pics!

Below is a shot of the old styl and new styl. (new is yellow Zink)
the old is lacking a Bumpstop like block on end of outer Tie rod.

the black one is sealed with White silicone (my doing) before getting Zink plate. (my doing)
ya always got to have back up parts..and on a show car..they have to match..lol so any back up parts have to be done up also



this shot shows some of the other parts. also plated. rust proof for life. the yellow zink matches oil pan timing cover spindls. just about every thing i could take off.


on a side note: the Movtech parts are thicker/bigger in the Head. then, the GM parts.
this might be a bad thing, if you need every bit of space, for over size wheels/spohn K member (this i will fined out) thanks sphon. Hope i have room. or ill have to Buy and plate GM parts.. Just another Drop in the Bucket.

of course i go back on line and look for the link and i cant find it but i google'd it and that seems to be were i find most of the info. but im hoping that they work well? some people say good things some say bad??? so keep us all updated on this!
also about how much did it cost to get them plated like that and is that a QA1 sleeve you have on then in that second pick?

the sleeve is from spohn. (like the rest of the front end) and wilwood.
the plating is cheap to do, all the front end parts.

brake dust covers
all the front end parts
every brake bracket
every strut bolt
hood parts latch/spring
steering box bolts and a few thing i cant remember this sec total was $60

i can even get a eng block done (if ya want) same price $60
then take it and have it mech.

9" rear end with ladder bars on it $60

they have a black zink and a silver zink also

Wow!! great price (place I'm using charges by the part not bucket or pound)... when you did those spindles... did you tape anything off? I'm going to do the same thing and was wanting to know if it's okay to do the whole thing.

well if by feel you mean the feel of the parts. they feel good. they don't seem flimsy or poorly made. they're not loose, and have a bit of weight to them. the ball joints especially seem pretty solid (they are quite a bit heavier then i remember ball joints being).

but if you mean how does it feel installed. no idea and probably won't know for a few months, as this was part one of my steering/suspension project and i don't want to install them until i have everything i need to take it back for an alignment.

next order for me is UMI Strut Mounts and Strut Tower Brace (which i will modify to a four point and triangulated but not triangulated to the firewall lip like most), Spohn Total polyurethane Kit, solid chrome-moly sway bar kit, polyurethane motor mounts, and tie rod turn-buckles. i already ordered new shocks and struts which have come in. also have two set of sub frame connectors which will go in at the same time as everything else as well (Spohn and Alston). i will also box in my rear lower control arms and panhard bar until i can order the adjustable. i'll also be getting the BMR Track-pak. none of this is quick so if i'm lucky i might have this finished by next summer.

sounds like you and I have quite a bit in common. I have UMI everything LCA, SFC, STB, wonderbar, PHB AARMS. full UMI suspension + LS1 T56... and a lot more going into my convertible

Prep: take time to sand down all the casting marks (i missed some of mine)

i also blast mine before i take the parts in to be plated. (saves on price also) when blasted. spray with oil. it will rust in just min if any water/rain. get near it!!!
spindle Prep. I use a good Tape to cover all the spindle barring/race.
i then cover it with A good water base silicone. let dry.

the acid they dip it in also clean all the oil you spray on it to stop rust.

the rotors are Silver Zink Plated
