Sphon rear coilover vs Wolfe Mini spring (for minitub install)
When adding minitubs, you need to change from a standard rear coil spring to something smaller.
Spohn makes a rear coilover that is around $600. (inlcudes everything)
Wolfe sells a smaller spring and mount that cost around $180 (no shocks)
I already have some KYB AGX shocks that I would like to use so the Wolfe setup is attractive.
Can anyone think of a good reason why the coilover would be the way to go over the Wolfe setup?

So you are refering to the Wolfe mini spring kit? I just got off the phone with the tech guy at Wolfe and he said if you can, run a coilover. I reminded him that they don't sell one for our cars and he said to call back tomorrow at lunch time, becuase if it is just a shock/spring that runs straight up and down, he should be able to offer something, and a lot cheaper than spohns kit.
So we will see. Still going to pick up the minitub from him though.

Spohn's kit is over priced. You can find coil overs with a stud and eyelet from Afco with standard valving fairly reasonable. All that you need to do is reinforce the upper shock mount area.

I agree, I feel like that should be easy enough to do. Just want to make sure I get the right shock length and spring.

QA1 makes a bolt in coil over for the 3rd gen (rear)
starts off in the $500 for every thing.
they make 5 or 6 kits with sof/med/firm springs
singl or double adjustable shocks just did the double on mine.
better then the old weld in set up sphon selling.
summit list them drop ship with them from QA1 takes about 3 days
MY set up was $700
i know summit has 1 in stock now(soft springs 130lb rate) still better then OEM z28 spring for a 92.

Very interesting. I thought whatever Spohn was welling was the only QA1 option.
Still not happy at the price. (just bought a house).
My car is just going to be on the street, do you guys think the wolfe mini spring would be fine for me? Or is it really worth the extra cash to go coilover? I know coilover is ideal, but what is the real point if I never plan on adjusting my right height much and just want to drive to car shows and have some fun on the highway every now and then...

Think I am going with the wolfe spring. Price is just too attractive. I have to spend big bucks other places. (engine dyno, procharger bracket and tentioner, etc...)

I had the mini coil kit installed when I did my tub. The shop put the upper mount at an angle. Sounds stupid but my springs angle forward going up. My point basically is check that if you get someone to install the mini tub for you. I didnt notice until taking the tire off. I am in Indiana now and the shop is in California. Took it to a couple of shops and they said it wouldnt affect performance but it just bugs me not being right.

LoOKs simular to the a
Spohn kit but the spring support has the bolt welded to the brace and then tabs for the upper shock mount. Spohn's kit has the brace seperate and the stud goes through the bracket/spring support and bolts through the stock rear shock hole the same way. So they both accomplish the same thing. So what makes the UMI kit bolt on in the spring bucket area compared to spohns?
