I know this is a pretty stupid topic, but I love the look of these third gens that have been mounted up to a K5 blazer frame. As I understand it, the driveline's are compatible at the bell housing (as most GM's are) and the 4wd system, transfer case and 5-speed manual are all out of the K5. Since a TPI 350 makes tons of torque, and the Camaro unibody is significantly lighter than the stock k5, I can't help feeling these would make mean offroaders.

I've been trying to research them but I cant seem to find the right keywords, I seem to remember them having a particular name. something like "Camerilo" but I cant seem to get it right...

Im very curious so if anyone has info I would appreciate it.

Disclaimer: I love my IROC and would never bastardizer her like this, however I may purchase someone else's Frankenstein and clean it up.

Important difference: if you roll a K5 blazer- you can roll/winch it back over, shake off the dust, and keep going.

if you roll a K5 drivetrain and chassis with a thirdgen body on top of it- the local fire department rolls it back over, and maybe pulls you out...but most likely you get squished.

I love offroading, used to be big into Jeeps. The most important thing is that your ride makes sure that you can always walk away. a thirdgen body was not made for offroading. I suppose you could put a frame in it if you wanted to.

what makes you think its a "poor people" car? although silly to alot of people, that 4wd camaro probably has more money in it than most third gens floating around. hell yea,...i'd drive that puppy around. it would be tons of fun around here.

Sorry guys, I know these are stupid. However I have seen them floating around for cheap. It might be a fun toy, with a cage and some four point harnesses. If I really wanted to do some serious off-roading, I would just get a forerunner.

Op.. just buy a blazer if you want that. Or something with a real frame at least. Like.. an elcrapmeno body.

This american style of lifted truck offroading is a bit silly to me. Can these giant bro trucks do anything that a properly prepped Jeep or buggy cant do? Can they go faster down a dirt road than a rally car? I'd say probably not to both. So what's the point? Bro trucks gonna bro I guess.

The only way I can condone something like this is if the car is sufficiently rusted out and ruined that just using the shell to make a gimmicky offroader isn't a total waste.

Now that thirdgen rally car i saw last week... that was pretty sweet.

Jeeps are American and their built like this sometimes also JS. It's all on how trashy the owner is, there are some pretty wicked mud toys out there but their most likely upper class people that like getting dirty I guess haha.
Also the type of off-roading these American style trucks do is probably less climbing (rock) and more burying (Mud)

Oh and I wasn't implying that all people that go mudding are trash... Just meant that a most of them are lol and if you go mudding enough you'll agree.
