Re: lowered with wheels
Its not about wheel size, its about tire size (outside diameter of tire ).
The wheel just changes the inside diameter of the tires lip.
Changing outside tire diameter to achieve a 1.5in. drop sounds strange to me. I don't recall having heard that strategy before.
Most just change the height with lowering springs.

I'm sure you could come down an inch, I've got mine down a couple inches and soon to be even further down.

Re: lowered with wheels
The big heavy wheels add a lot of unsprung weight,,, that;s why. It has nothing to do with being low. I kept 16" x 8" IROC "rears" on all four corners(17 lbs each ) for the very reason the wheels and tires were light. It gave a better ride ratio then putting on large diameter fat wheels.
I will remind everyone I pulled 1.07 g's on 8" wheels. (I will also note this was on a actual timed skid pad run, not some gtech hand held device that can spike false readings.)
