Edelbrock TBI to MPFI

Hey, whats everyone's take on Edelbrock's TBI to MPFI setup?

http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/mpfi_tbi_intro.html

No, I'm not considering it, but it seems interesting, and I'm sure there is more than one person here who may wish to at least look into it...

i ahven't run it but i did se a truck that had teh conversion done. it looks liek a nice kit. it coudl most likely benefit from a litl emore air since with 8 injectors it has plenty of fuel capacity. the injectors it uses are also a little different. the kits uses pico style injectors instead of teh more common bosch style injectors. they work teh same, the body is just smaller.

I'm pretty sure that system is made to work with the truck 7747 ecms. It would be cool if we could use it with the computer in our f-bodies. Though I don't think the $$ to power gain ratio is very good.

I've been tuning my friends 91 chevy 1500 pickup that has a zz4 and that edelbrock mpfi kit. It does use the 7747 but there isn't much different in the eprom. It's not a very simple setup, lots of issues with firing strategies (mostly when going between async and sync modes).
The truck was running really rich, failed emissions testing in NJ so that's when my friend had me tune it. Since then it's passed emissions and got 18mpg highway (which is darn good for a truck that size and 3.73 gears). I haven't gotten to tuning WOT performance but they don't really care. It's got a crappie tranny so they're thinking about pulling the motor and selling the mpfi kit. It really isn't worth the money! They could have done better with a 454tb.
The kit can work just as well with the f-body 8746 ecm just requires a few changes in the eprom, nothing difficult.

I have come across this monster a time or two and wondered if injecting right into the runners is better than having a 4bbl TBI unit. What do you guys think?

This seems like a good "theoretical" idea on edelbrock. Wouldn't doing a TBI to TPI swap be around the same general idea, but this seems MUCH easier.

Re: Edelbrock TBI to MPFI

ttt.

Jprevost, I think you may be out of town or such, I see your last activity was April 25,08. Hopefully you see this. I am disperate for help and in a war with Edelbrock right now. I am filing a lawsuit on them if they do not respond with a solution by Wednesday. In the mean time I am driving around on expired tags since I can not get this vehicle to pass smog with the Calif smog legal conversion I bought from Edelbrock.
