350 Tbi

Hey new to this forum.. finaly found a home.. iI just wanted to ask if anybody has installed a 350 or 383 in thier TBI cars? And what is involved in it except the basic swap? Do you have to do any ECM mods like a chip or some thing? or is it a direct replacement .. thanks for the info... TBI kicks a**

i think the tbi ecm will accept a 350 with a chip, dunno about a 383, ....when you plan to do this ill give you the email addy to a guy i know who will write you a chip for 37 bucks shipped and insured

I put a 350 with vortec heads into my 91 RS (replaced 305 TBI).
I changed the knock sensor and used 350 TBI injectors (65#/hr).

After the install, I performed modifications to my ecm chip. I did a lot of reading concerning chip modifications (info from this site). This was much easier than I had originally thought. Like a lot of things, it takes time and commitment, but is achievable.

I would strongly suggest you search this site for additional information (try "350 AND 305 AND TBI AND SWAP") for additional details on the actual swap.

Also search for "WinALDL"- this is a program that allows the user to monitor engine function. It will give you direction for changing the chip.

Also, when I first started with the swap, I was going to pay someone to burn chips for me.
After reading and learning, I am glad that I chose to do it myself. All the information is available on this site- do some searches, read some tech articles and decide for yourself. Like I said, it takes some commitment, but is not that bad and it gives you way more control.

You have to put in a 350 ESC Moudle too
