I think i foud my ramair solution

I think i might have an idea to make the ram air kit from ramairhood.com work with a tbi. Im thinking the new hood would give me all the clearance i will ever need and what i could do would be to hammer out the factoy air cleaner assembly to make it fit with the metal sleeve pointing forward. Take off the whole plastic sleeve that goes in the front of the car and attach the ramair box to my radiator like im supposed to. With a little cutting and fitting of tubes i think that might actually work. I would have to find someway to make it fit over the coil. It just barely touches it now but if i make it sit on the throttle body properly it would most certainly get in the way. Has anyone tried this setup to see if it actually works. Theory states that it should work but only time will tell i guess. I have attached a picture showing my idea.

Well.. that would work except.. have you ever looked into that metal sleeve coming out of the side of the filter housing? It's about 2 square inches.. I'd say if you fabricated a larger sleeve that would flow a lot more air.. then you'd be onto something. It boggled my mind how a motor no matter 305 or 350 could get enough air through that little hole.
Unless you were planning on modifying that since that sleeve doesn't point straight forward anyway. All in all.. sounds like a good idea. To the best of my knowledge no one has thought of that yet. I'm interested in finding out how it turns out.

..

we thought of that last summer and abondoned the idea. it's much easyer to just make a airbox of your own and make it really flow well... my $0.02
