Question about the 7525 Weiand intake and egr

So i got my hands on a used 7525 and i want to hook up egr, for those of you who are using this intake, has anyone been able to use EGR with it? Will i need a new egr valve or can i just swap the one over from my original manifold? Anything else i should know for this install? i have posted previously about my combo, and i am set on this manifold, i jsut would really like to have egr so i can pass CA smog.

THanks,
Mike

i haven't installed mine yet, but PM'd with a guy (DanW) who has... here is a copy of that info.

When I was running the edlebrock performer with the EGR, I had to kind of kluge an EGR from two different units to make it clear the valve cover. I got one with the correct base and found one with a smaller diaphram that I unscrewed and used on the correct base. Now I cant remember 100% if I used the EGR on the 7525 intake but I'd say I'm at least 80% sure I did for emissions inspection reasons (the heads I was running at the time did not have the crossover built in and I remember disableing the EGR function on the chip). If I did use it and I'm pretty sure I did it would have been the same one from the other setup with the small diaphram. Let me know how it turns out.

------------------------

As far as the diapharm goes, I rummeged through the stock at autozone until I found one. No idea what vehicle its from. I didnt swap the EGR on and off... I'm pretty sure I put it on from day one and left it there although disabled in the EPROM.

Ok, thanks for the info, does anyone happen to know what car i might look on for a smaller diaphram? I would have to have egr to pass smog here in ca.

thanks again,
Mike

Doesn't CA have a strict visual inspection as well? If they do I would think you wouldn't be able to pass with that manifold with or without EGR.

Hey...how are things I was trying to answer the similar question a while ago and I never did figure ti out....but I think I did. I dont think its the exact same manifold that I have sitting in my garage...but its an EGR holley one so the "mounting pad" is probably the same. Try one from a '78 half tonne pickup truck....I have what I was going to try (what I thought it was after my research and trial/error with a number different ones) at home....I will post on here sometime during the weekend.

Later,
Dave

ive heard that depending on the smog inspection station you go to and how well you disguise the manifold you could get away with it. Ill bet if you ground off any weiand markings, painted it black, and weathered it some that they wouldnt suspect a thing

done and done, the only marking on it is a "team g" which i think will be covered up by the coil bracket, if not, out comes the old dremel. If anyone has done this, did you use the stock hard fuel lines? or did you have to make braided ones? Also, i would like to run a fuel pressure gauge (autometer electric sport comp 2 1/16" where is the best place to put a sensor in? Which line etc. Is there a place on the tb for it? THanks again guys,

Mike

Alright....I just rolled in and check out that # I had scribbled down on a piece of paper. The Part number I have is a EGV-328....what "brand" this is for I dont have a clue but I do know that my local parts guy said with that number I/we could link it to a bunch of other brands etc....as I mentioned I have not tried it yet (I am too Lazy and the winter is soon comming)....but if you figure this one out drop me a line and I will do the same!

Thanks,
Dave

Got the egr for an 81 caprice (possible match info from the sticky at the top of the tbi forum) this definitely does not fit with the 7525, they valve housing is the same diameter as the stock tbi egr vavle. I got one for the 78 pickup, which you suggested and the diameter is much smaller, it looks like it should fit, but with my valve covers (tall style to clear the comp cams pro magnum rockers) i think there will be some interference. The valve covers are polymer so dimpling them is not an option, however, i am going to be contacting holley to see if they make some type of spacer which angles the tbi upward from the cast in pad. I doubt it, but it may be possible. I can't imagine that they would make this thing with egr and then now know how to hook it up with some valvecovers on the engine. Anyone have any ideas? Also, Dewey316 did you ever get a part number, i dont' know if i just have an oddball mounting pad on this 7525, it looks like the projection manifolds have a better angle on the pad. I was thinking if i machined a wedge and put it on there between the manifold and the valve that would give me the necessary clearance, however i have no way to do this. I'll call holley and see what i can turn up. Lemme know if anyone has any ideas.

thanks,
Mike

no i don't have a part number, i'm going to install it with the EGR block-off plate, and deal with it at smog check time.

Good old Holley and EGR valves....the search continues!!!!!

All I have got to say is good luck with calling Holley....I spent numerous hrs on the phone/swapping emails back and forth with them a couple of months ago and I still couldnt get a solid answer regarding things.

So it looks like the 78' pickup on fits as long as you have "standard" height valve covers eh....hmmm I hope that is the case because if it is my problem is finally solved!

Good luck with things man....keep us posted.
