GM Aluminum TBI intake manifold

I have a 1989 firebird 305 V8 TBI. I was wondering if this GM aluminum TBI intake manifold would be a good idea of getting. The GM part number is 10166137. It is new. Below I have a pic of it. Would this intake be a direct replacement to the one on there now, or would it be an improvment? Is the one on my car cast iron or aluminum? Would you suggest that I get this intake manifold to replace the one on there now, or just buy aftermarket?

That manifold looks no different than all the other Fcar TBI aluminum intakes.... so it's probably identical to the one on your 305 engine.

See

http://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/show...light=10166133

and note that the casting number in your picture is 10166133, not 10166137. Also, the casting number isn't always the same as the GM part number. FYI.

I can also tell you that manifold has been listed on E-bay several times but the reserve never seems to get met. Don't get is as a replacement for yours.

It is a standard GM TBI intake and there is zero things special about it. Both are aluminum by the way. I think this one has just had its black paint removed.

What would you recommend that I get that is cheap? I don't wanna spend 200 dollars, but if I could find one for around 50-60 dollars, then I'll go for it.

i suggest you save $100 more, and get something that will benifit you. or look for a 4bbl performance manifold on e-bay.
