Flow Direction of Fuel Filter?

hey guys.....

well I just replaced my fuel filter after hours and hours of trying to get it off......FINALLY.....but now my car still won't start and NOW there isn't even fuel going through the injectors!!!! I put gas in it too just to make sure I didn't lose it all during the swap. So I'm wondering if possibly I put the filter on backwards? I put the side that says "OUT" on the passanger side......is that right?

ughhh :'(

Thanks

You have the filter going in the right direction. Now let me ask you this, did you pull any fuses prior to changing the fuel filter? And if you did, did you remember to put them back in? Or maybe disconnected the battery and forgot to re-connect it?

hey trickster thanks for the reply

well I know that if you pull the fuel pump fuse (mounted directly in back of the passanger side headlight, on top of the battery) and crack the motor, it lessens the amount of gas while changing the fuel filter. well since my motor wouldn't start I decided to pull the fuse and crank it anyways....I did it about 3 times and it wouldn't start so I left it out while I swapped filters. I actually went and got a new battery today incase that was the problem. and I even sanded the negative ground for the battery cable. so the fuel pump fuse was the only one I pulled, and it's back in now. I'm really confused as to why I'm not getting fuel through the injectors anymore. Any other idea's? :/

Thanks again

Do you hear the fuel pump run for two seconds when you turn the key? If it does run have you checked the fuel pressure at the rail? Also, when you change the fuel filter it usually takes about four primes to build up enough pressure in the line to start the car. And finally do you have any leaks at the fuel filter after changing it?

You'l need a fuel pressur gauge that has the GM fitting at the end (around here they come Gm-Ford-Other). On the fuel rail you'll see a Schraeder (sic) valve, looks like a tire valve stem, with a metal cap.

Remove the cap, and wrap a towel around the base; if fuel comes out, you're not soaking the engine. Ideally you'd want to relive pressure in the system before you do this, but it looks like you're covered. Doesn't hurt to be safe, however.

Screw the end of the gauge onto the valve. Make sure you're straight and get it on tight.

Now turn the key (you may have to do it a few times, if pressure has been relieved), and you should get a reading on the gauge.

Speaking of fuses all others are ok, right? Like ECM or FInj 1/2?
