The stock intake is enough for a stock motor but becomes a restriction when any type of performance mods are added. Basically, everything that bolts onto a TBI motor in stock form needs to go.
Originally posted by Breazlan Also, are the 305 manifolds the same as 350 manifolds?
If it is, the 305 won't be as affected by the restriction on the low revs. What is the restriction in the manifold?
The intakes are the same but with different part numbers. The problems with the stock intake are its small plenum and runner size along with its entry angle into the ports. It all around is a straw. Dont worry about the low revs. When you need it, a properly matched intake with (insert combo here) will retain all of the low end as well as provide sufficient high end flow.
What intake is a high velocity intake to use? I currently am using a dual plane that could probably classified as a high rise. Response seems too squishy and am thinking it could be the intake plenum size.

There is a good write up on intakes in the TBI stickies above. Some cover parts and another by Dimented goes into intake selection with TBI. That should help you out.
the truck exhaust manifolds totally suck tho .. summit has headers that bolt in place of the manifolds for ~ $ 150 then like ` $180 for flowtec's I opted for stainless steel headers so I wont have to worry about then rotting out
