I read the above post plus did some research, but I am still wondering what kind of mods can I do with out buring a chip( I may burn one in the future, but as of now i can't) and will also not really hurt the fuel economy of my camaro?
My car is a 1992 RS with the stock L03, and 700R4.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

from what I've read
you can do your ignition up to MSD standard, 3" cat back and open airfilter and after that point chip burning becomes more important to get the benefit of the mod's.
dewey or dimented said that after headers he needed a 10% increase in his VE tables.
The more you do to your car the more your going to want to crawl into that little space a socket can't reach. It's brain.
Apparently you get better MPG from a well done chip.
Good luck
(MSD i just mean wires and coil nothing more, its makes a difference)
I wouldn't worry about getting an MSD set up (especially if your car is stock or near stock) your stock ignition system works just fine. I would go with an aftermarket header, Catco cat and flowmaster muffler.
An open air element and a cat back are a good start. They won't drastically change your VE and you will be able to feel a boost on the ol' butt dyno along with keeping your wallet happy at the pump. Adding headers adds power but you will not get the best performance and or fuel economy with them without chip work. They will still add power but that will just be held back a tad. I would also look into a set of gears and suspension mods. To me a full suspensioned 3rd gen is about as fun as it gets no matter what is under the hood.

Suspensioned, is that a new word?
Anyway, Shifty is right. Start with an open element air cleaner and a good 3" cat-back. You can do the ultimate TBI mods and install an injector spacer while your at it (these mods won't give you a great gain in HP, but it will help later on). Then, start working on the rest of the car. Since you have an automatic tranny, get a shift kit for it, and install some new rear end gears (3.42s are great for the 305 TBI cars, by the way). And start working on the suspension, by installing polyurethane bushings, or tubular parts, and don't forget subframe connectors.
All of the work that you do now will save you time and money later on.
The air filter is a 14' by 3' open air filter. ABout $30 from any auto store but they come with paper filters. Double the money and you could get a KnN and forget about it.
You have to read the stickies at the top though because theres drop base and non drop base and you need to be aware of the difference and dangers of a drop base.
A non drop base is the easiest way, no messin with your coils wiring.
Yes PLEASE read the open element stickies at the top ALL THE WAY THROUGH, learn from my mistakes. I still have the drop base on mine, and don't plan on changing it, but still you really should head the warnings...
Good luck with your car! Of course the whole TBI crew will be here to help ya out...
