I'd check it out to make sure its the right type for your car
http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...61&cgrfnbr=882
http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...=egnsearch.asp

I couldn't find the part # but I'd start with making sure it was the right one ..and find the right part # then search here for installation..someone's bound to of covered it somewhere on the electronics side.

Have you taken the cap of to check if it has points?

That is not the right distributor to use. Is there anything wrong with your stock one to warrent a change?

Odds are 1000 to 1 that your distributor is NOT your problem.

even with almost 170k??? so maybe just a good tune up, or could it be a fuel problem?? i doubt that because sometimes i hit a hard corner and throw it in to second or third dependin how fast im goin and it will almost die. ie from high rev to will not rev about 1000

if you really think it's a problem with your distributor, it would be your timing. I would first replace your fuel filter, spark plugs, wires, cap & rotor, and oxygen sensor before ever thinking about the distributor.

has the car had a good tune up..thats normally the best place to start diagnostic's..
170k doesn't sound to long to me..you cam isn't worn out, or the crankshaft so I don't think the distrubutor gear would be dieing on ya'.

give everybody some basic info on where your car is at right now in terms of maintence done and tune..and it'll help someone advise ya well.
good luck

the plugs are about a year and a half old, as long with the cap and rotor and wires i think there is a vaccume leak where the dist is the hose broke off here and other than that i think the timing is off scratch that i know its off

well before you go to town swapping out dizzys..check out those other 2 things. A busted hose and setting your timing is childs play..putting in a new dizzy?? I dunno sounds like a headache if something goes wrong like you line up the gear teeth wrong etc..

wanting to sell your car because it's dumbfounded you is something that happens to most of us.

How do you know it's the dizzy and not the timing chain being worn for instance? how do you diagnose a dieing dizzy?

I see what you mean my bad re; timing.

If your going to swap IT out take will you take a photo log. And post on how to?

good luck and I hope you get it sorted.
