hey guys just recently got time to install this cam, Lunati Voodoo Cam and Lifter Kits: LUN-60103LK - summitracing.com , into my tbi truck this is alot more agressive than my previous one, the problem i am having is getting the thing to run in drive. it has a pretty cosistant idle in park, when in park IAC counts are around 30-40, a vaccum of 60 kpa at 725 rpm, BLM of 127, tryed messing with the timing from 20-35 degrees of total timing at idle, but everytime i put it into drive it runs fine for about 30 sec. then dies, whats strange is that it doesnt bog or sputter, it just dies as if someone turned of the key. really stumped, never came across this before? even turning the idle to about 850, but still doest same thing?
Check your ECM for trouble codes. Make sure that you are not getting a MAP high code at idle. I was having the same problem with my L82 cam and the stock 7747 ECM. I forget which location it is, but RBob could probably pull it right off the top of his head. I ended up having to adjust it to a MAP high error of around 80 KPA or so. Stock it is like 45 or so. If you idle for long enough, above 45 KPA, it sets a MAP high code, my limp-home mode was so far off(4.3 Astro TBI ecm), it would surge once, then quit running. It would sit and run all day with the transmission in Park/Neutral. It would run great as long as I was moving. Stop and sit, it would just die. Finally ended up just checking for codes and found MAP high.
right now i am using the stock ecm, 16146299, would i be better off using a 7747, i have one. i dont think the one i am using now has a MAP high error table. i also noticed the 7747 has alot more tables.
The 16146299 and the '7747 share the same hardware. It is the code that runs the engine is different between the two. Not being familar enough with the '6299 code, I can't say which one of the two is better. The '7747 does have the advantage of being better known, which allows for easier tuning.
i tryed 7747, i've been messing with it for the past two days and it still does the same thing, the only other thing i was told it could be is my stall might not be big enough, could this have anything to do with it? I have a 2000 stall, the cam called for a 2400.
The specs on that cam list that it is not computer compatible. I'm guessing your having issues with the 110 center lobe on it. I just installed a Comp Cams 12-262-4 Camshaft Specifications and had no issues at all with pretty much the same specs with the exception of the center lobe.
