was over at a custom engine shop getting some prices on various items for my l31 build.
I asked about intakes and he mentioned that the carb intakes dont work as well as the GM TBI intake but that intake is around 750 bucks CDN
Any other choices out there? Besides the rpm or air gap
Also I am looking to buy some tooling online to do the mods to the vortec heads I have IE spring seat mods and to cut the valve guide down and to get the guide cut for the new seals.
I am gonna go with the LT4 hot cam and thinking of putting in some 1.6 rockers.

RUN from that guy as far as TBI knowledge. The GM TBI intake SUCKS for real power. Its only good for a daily driver with a small cam and stock vortecs. I ran a modified by me Edelbrock Victor Jr 2bbl Vortec single plane with a 2" bore 454 TBI on my Van. Torque curve kicked in strong, early and held steady well past 6,000 rpm. I ran the 350 over 6,500 rpm on more than one occassion. Still pulling HARD.
I would never run a dual plane on another TBI engine after running this single plane. I used a TBI-2bbl carb adapter from TransDapt and radiused the manifold to clear the throttle bores and unshroud them. Plenty of material to do it with.

It was fun to run mid-low 14s in a 5,500 lbs fullsize van. Knowing that I was still running 3.08 gears and a tractionless 2.2s 60' time. It was fun running from a 20 punch.

Ok I could not have found this thread at a better time. I sent a pm to the host, however I can use as many ideas as I can. I have a 350 out of a suburban from 86. the motor was rebuilt by Jasper Motors so it actually only has about 65K miles on it. Will this block be good for the swap you guys are talking about? What do you guys suggest I put into it if it is good to use?
ok I already have the Vortec engine and have it tore apart awating taking it to the machine shop. There is a question I have about what springs to tell them I need, when I take my heads to get done what springs do I tell them I need for this lt4 hot cam.? I have been buying parts (even though most of the numbers can't be found on gmpartsdirect) and don't want to end up getting the wrong thing here. If I get a TBI off of a 350 I am guessing I won't need the regulator (that is also not to be found on gmpartsdirect) is this correct? All I should need is a 350 prom for my ECM correct? Sorry for the questions that may sounf stupid to some but this is a project I am doing with my son and it will be something he will be driving and want it to be dependable and something that he feels he did wrong because I got the wrong parts and something fails in the engine

The search function works quite well. But also some of the gurus maybe on vaction.
You'll need to tune that ecm to your build a mail order chip won't get you the full potential.
Also there is a couple of posts here on the forum in regards to some bee hive springs for the vortec heads that give you more lift with out machining

Ran across your posts by accident looking for something else and found that you seem to have most of the answers to one of my projects that's been dormant for a while, and your just down the street !! But I have a few questions. I started building up a '93 C1500 Ext Cab PU as a tow vehicle for when I retire. To date I have built the all forged, internal balanced, 383 w/ e-tec 170 heads (comp set @ 9.5:1), Comp Cams 266HR-14 hyd roller, GM TBI vortec intake, 350 TBI bored to 2" and flowed @ 750cfm+, adj FPR, and a set matched set of 90# injectors in a new 350 injector pod. Also have Walbro 255, Bosch 3 wire WB, Dynomax 87707 CARB headers, Walker 15147 Hi-PO 3" Cat converter & Flowmaster 3" single outlet Cat back system. Also have all the GM/Edelbrock parts to adapt the EGR. Transmission is a PATC 4L60E Raptor Level 3 w/ the Torque Drive pkg & 1800RPM 2x converter.
Now, the question is, what PCM can I use w/ this to get the most out of it, and still pass our Tarrant County Smog checks ? The shop that does all my smog testing says he doesn't care about the "visual", but it's going to have to pass the dyno test. My PCM is an '8625.
I talked to DynamicEFI in aug/07 about getting one of their EBL systems and he said that EBL would only work on the "C3 series of TBI ECM's" and that it probably wouldn't do what I wanted. (I did buy a complete '8625 from him conveted to drive 4 injectors).
Is it possible to use one for the tests, and a EBL C3 for the "rest of the year"?

I'm building this little 8,500rpm jewel to go in my "street legal" strait front axle '57 2 dr. I've got a special one-off Mas-Flo SEFI w/ a 80mm Accufab TB for it.
