Holley 502-1

Well, I know this is my first post, but I was told at several other places that this is THE PLACE to go to when you need EFI advice &/or help. So here I am. Hopefully somebody around here has some dealings with this system & can tell me something about it.

OK, so I may be getting this system in a trade. The problem is, I can't find ANY information about it. The guy that has it says that he's had it for about 10 years, (which would mean it's analog), and it has never been out of the box.

My question(s) for you guys is, what would you do with it? Does anybody have any experience with a holley system this old? How'd it do? I would really like to get FI, but if it's going to be hard to get parts/support for it I'd have to pass.

I have a 1972 blazer with the th350 auto & I would like to upgrade to EFI, but I'd like to know if this is worth even trying out. You can also see my ULTIMATE wish list on that site as well for a little background on my plans.

Thanks in advance,
Buddy

That holley system is going to be the worst of the worst. Analog, the crummy old style injectors, and non-feedback.

You can do better with an OEM system.

That is EXACTLY what I was wanting/needing to hear. I wouldn't mind doing an OE TBI or TPI, I'm not loooking for crazy performance, just smooth, reliable, drive it wherever it can fit performance. I also don't want to spend a ton of money on it either. What would you recommend? I'm not scared, just broke.

Thanks,
Cliff

I would stay away from the older holley throttle bodies. I had one on a '90 C1500 with a rebuilt engine and had a total of 3 injectors go bad over the 3 years of owning it (I bought it second hand). Even the guy before me had an injector go bad in it. If you look at their new tb's, the injector pod style is different. I'm assuming they changed the design to make them more reliable. Currenly I'm in the process of adapting the old base, which has the nice 2' throttle blades to a stock pod. I would go OE TBI, it is cheap, reliable, and does fine unless you have a stout engine making high rpm power.

I 2nd the vote for an oem system.
I got all of my stuff at the junk yard and did the install myself after doing alot of reading. Not that hard once you get familiar with it.Since I am running a stroker, I used a 454 throttle body and put 350 injectors in it.
The beauty about using all stock stuff is you can get parts for it anywhere if you get into trouble on the road.
