Edelbrock intake manifold clearance issues

I finally installed the manifold and noticed that I barely have any hood clearance after I put the open element kit on it. I have a 1/2 inch spacer in my garage but I know it won't fit under the stock hood. Has anyone else had this problem?

Also because of the shape of the manifold, the hose running from the manifold to the brake booster now goes right over the oil filler cap. It seems easy enough to just bend it but again, did anyone else run into this problem?

This is just a suggestion, if you haven't really cleaned out your engine in a while you should take apart the intake manifold and clean it out thoroughly. After 70k miles of driving I was amazed at how much CRAP can get stuck in there. I even cleaned out the ports leading to the valves...hopefully I will be back on the road this weekend.

You should get a fiberglass cowl induction hood scoop from Harwood. All that fresh air and extra hood clearance should give you more room to play. They sell on Jegs
