advance timing?

my friend said he can advance my timing, he said something about turning distribitur cap while looking down the camshaft, im little confused is that how u advance timing?
And should i let him do it?

To accurately advance your timing you need to use a timing light. I wouldnt let him touch my car without the timing light. If you do advance the timing, disconnect the brown wire near the firewall on the passenger side. advance it 2* at a time to find out what is best

Do not touch nothing without a timming light!!!
