?? Holley TBI 502-6 on edelbrock intake (3704)

I was thinking of buying the 670 CFM Two Barrel TBI Model 3210 from holley. problem is my edelbrock intake (3704) has 1 11/16" bores and appartently the holley is 2". WTF?? holley claims it's a stock replacment. Edelbrocks says to only use the stock TBI. any ideas????????

Holley gives you a thick-*** gasket that necks down from 2" to 1-11/16" so that you can use it on the stock intake.

Why not go with the Holley TBI intake? It has 2" bores.

Depending on your application a Holley unit might not be best. 670cfm is a lot, even for a 350hp street engine. My friend runs 600cfm double pumper on his 370hp 327, we put on a 750 and it didn't like it. BIG delay in throttle responce blah blah. I wouldn't install the edelbrock special TBI manifold. For the same price you could have any carb intake with a 1" spacer/adaptor.
What's the point of installing the holley 2" unit if the manifold is 1 11/16!!!!! Kind of like installing a 3" y-pipe and 3/4 headers with a single 2.25" out!

With that being a basic stock motor in a truck I would recommend doing the ultimate TBI mods in the tech section of this web site and spending that money on some much needed headers. If you are set on buying the Holley 670 just pull the intake and any machine shop can drop a 2" end mill in those stock size holes, But what you are after the most would be bottom end and mid range torque with that heavy truck. Also make sure that you have a non-restrictive air intake system on there. Good luck!

thanks for all the info so far guys... as far as machining the intake to 2" bores apparently (this is right from edelbrock) you can't make them any bigger without hitting the water jackets. as for weight of the truck it's actually not that heavy.. its reg cab stepside.. sides of the box are fiberglass.

if anyone has any input on headers that would greatly be appreciated.. I was thinking of putting some one since I have a high flow cat & performance muffler but someone told me that if I drive it in the winter they wouldn't last more than 2 years because of the use of salt in the winter here. the other problem I have (maybe someone can help me here as well) my truck has that A.I.R. crap on it so I need headers to accomodate that..

thks

Jeff. Port your heads. Dyno Don K. did and he said he saw a 40HP improvement. Your main point of restriction now is in your heads, not the intake and TBI.
