TBI Throttle Bracket – 700R4

Throttle Bracket – 700R4

I am ‘mocking-up’ my TBI induction system based on Holley Projection manifold (300-49) and a stock SBC TBI unit on top of 1 inch aluminum spacer. Spacer is needed to clear fuel lines in the back.
Question – what type of throttle –TV cable bracket should I use with this setup. Stock bracket is too far back – it’s mounted on the last two intake manifold bolts and both cables are too short.

So far I have found the following bracket that may work with TBI
Holley recommends 20-113 for their 4 BBL TBI system
Spectre 2428 which I think is a bit weak
TCI Transmission suggests TCI 376705 -

Any suggestions would welcomed

Re: TBI Throttle Bracket – 700R4

I fabricated my throttle brackets for both of my Vortec TBI conversions from stock GM brackets (The throttle cable bracket is a stock carb Van, the cruise and bracket is a stock TBI piece). I used older carbed Van throttle and TV cables. The pictures were taken before I finished bending the bracket slightly more upward and to the left. I did that so the cables were a straight shot to the TBI and they operated smoothly.

PS- I also drilled and tapped the rear of the Holley Projection adapter in order to screw in the Q-Jet power brake fitting I removed from a Q-Jet at the junkyard. Used a stock carbed van vacuum tube for the power brake connection as the performer carbe vortec intake lacks the TBI style front vacuum fitting.

I fabricated my own also. I went with something totally new though. I'll have to take pics. It is pertinant to get the bracket right so the TV cable follows the right angle, or you'll smoke the tranny in no time. Tak my for for it, i have done it.

Fast & Liquidh

Fast355 thanks for posting pictures of your setup!

Went through TV system setup when I converted from TH-350 to 700R4. I got lucky - bowtie overdrives had a complete system ready to install. Yep, getting system geometry right is very critical for 700R4 longevity. As if I did not had much else to worry about, 1 inch spacer adds additional complexity into the mix. I’ll post design sketches once I get some dimensions of throttle arms, intake manifold mounting flange, etc.

Good luck- I'm planning something similar, I'd love to see about it working successfully before I do anything

Re: TBI Throttle Bracket – 700R4

TV Bracker Update for 2 BBL TBI on Holley 300-49 with 700R4 trany.

This weeks update. Holley recomends cable bracket P/N 20–101 for GM 700R4 transmission with 300-49 manifold. Searching Holley for this number returns no valid part numbers! Holley installation instructions call for transmission kick-down bracket used for 2 BBL to 4 BBL conversions, GM P/N 3973000. No clean information, but lots of lose ends!

Hmmm, but see my mods in attached PDF file. More pictures are available - PM me. I am working a custom sollution that solves all clearance problems.
