did you happen to misalign your timing marks on the timing chain, or happen to put your distributor in wrong possibly 180 out, this seems to be most of your problem, make sure that all those are correct if not sure, run over it again, i just replaced my timing chain, and had the same problem, till i aligned the marks on the timing chain, then rotated my motor to top dead center on the #1 clyinder, and made sure my rotor piont was pionting to the #1 plug terminal on the distributor ,and she's runnning perfect now hopefully this helps some unles you have tried what i suggested already?

i lined them up right, and the cam said not to degree it at all, both things you suggested would cause it to not start, thanks for the reply, i guess its by ear untill i figure it out

oh she'll start 180* off... I know this... Did the same damn thing on the 87. It'll run like ****, but it'll run. I got it a tooth of the 2nd time.. and the 3rd time I finally got it right.
