Re: $2,000 4 barrel tbi

Available in single and dual versions, these ACCEL DFI 4-barrel TBI spark fuel management systems for GM include the ECM, harness, throttle body assembly/assemblies, air cleaner, fuel pump, fuel filter, sensors, and linkage hardware.

It's basically a MPFI setup for a carb'd car that wants to upgrade. It definitely makes it a lot easier to upgrade, rather than having to hunt down all the parts, and as such, demands a small premium, while also having the ACCEL name on it, demanding a little more premium.

That, and you can run some of the super-performance carb manifolds with no modifications, dunno if that's the case with the stock TBI.

Re: $2,000 4 barrel tbi

If I was about to drop the 2 grand on something like that, I would just save the other $1k for a Mass-flo EFI unit which is FAR superior to any aftermarket TBI system.

Isn't that system basically a ford ECU with a chopped LS1 MAF and a freq. to voltage converter?

What ever it is, it learns on its own and can suck up to 1000 cfm. As long as you're within the fuel limits on your chosen injectors it will go far beyond what any TBI unit can do.

You can get the TB unit by itself. The Accel part number is 74135B. I had one on my Weiand 142 blown 350. I think I paid $350 for the TB, then another $250 for injectors.
