vats fixed still interminnet start

sorry for the long explanation but i want to get it all in

soo ive been having problems with the vats system and it ended up being a broken wire to the lock cylinder so i fixed that and over the passed week its been giving me trouble again not wanting to start but if i walk away for a half hour or so and come back most of the time it would start.security light would not go off so i knew it was vats related. today its all screwd up very hot day today went to go to work this morning and no start so i walk a way for a few come back a wala its starts got to work, go to leave no start again security lite on after a few it finally starts while on the highway she dies pull off the highway and try to start her back up and nothing but this time the security light turns off after 5 sec but still not starting cranked it a few times and it would start to crank for like a sec then stop but then it started after a few tries died again few seconds down the road but started right back up got it home shut it off ..but it wont turn back on again ..wtf electrical gremlins, ecu ? oh and the vats connector under the dash reads the correct ohms with the key in the ignition?

Question; Each time you attempt to start it, do you hear the fuel pump prime?

Re: vats fixed still interminnet start

Will it crank over but not start? When running and it dies, does it just shut down or peter out slowly?

Re: vats fixed still interminnet start

Might be related. Even with a vats issue it should still turn over. So, I'd rule that out since you've made that repair. You might want to check the ignition switch and start enable relay. Before you go there, are your battery cables and the battery in good condition? No shorts to ground?

Re: vats fixed still interminnet start

the battery and cables are fine when i looked under the dash to find the enable relay i found a spot where a relay was suppose to be but was not.. it had a brown green blue and yellow wire going is that it? but ive never had problems like this before. the ignition switch was replaced like a year ago but maybe it came loose so i will check that when i get a chance

Re: vats fixed still interminnet start

ok so i replaced the ignition module and the ignition coil car ran smoother with a nice idle didnt stall but didnt drive her hard either but got home and bam wont start again so i jump the starter and bam she starts right up shut off let sit for 10 mins and she starts fine with the key again.. so im gonna relocate the starter selonoid and hope thats the problem

Re: vats fixed still interminnet start

so i put in a remote selonoid from a tbi mustang part #f492 $10 from the parts store a new battery cable and a push button. the car still doesnt like to start with a key when its hot out but starts fine with the button.so im assuming the igniton switch is shot or mis adjusted. the car was still stalling but i found a dry rotted hose that goes to the egr valve and to what i belive is the evap canister and fixed that. also i advanced the timing 2* and so far its been running fine ..ill keep updating
