Hey racing71
Yes, I know first hand about big holes dizzy in B-Body cars - that almost sounds dirty but it is not... Hmm about a year and half ago I came across wrecked B-Body on a local JY. At the time I did not know anything about big hole B-Bodies, but then I had cleanup day in my garage when I lined-up three different dizzies:
From left to right '84 CCC Pontiac firebird, '89 camaro, and 91 B-Body
All three will work with C3 ECM. The only change required is to swap 4-pin EST connector. Otherwise electrically they are operate in the same manner. The standard hat HEI and compact can be easily interchanged. In some instances were firewall clearance is tight compact HEI is desirable. However, full size HEI tend to be more robust - fewer coil failures that tend to frequent compact HEI.
For B-Body car Chevy engineers had to design a unique intake manifold and dizzy to clear firewall cowling. Intake dizzy hole has a larger diameter and it sits lower. I have critical dimensions somewhere.
In the following photo standard small hat HEI is on top and bottom is B-Car specific dizzy
The question - can you use Projection intake on a B-Body??? I do not know. Maybe, but if recall removing dizzy on that wrecked Caprice was not easy.
