I need one. I would like to upgrade but not to a 255 because of the problems that arise's out of the returning of all that extra fuel.
The 190 for 90$ is not a bad deal a local store brand would be fine
I was searching and found
Carter
Bosh
Edlebrock
BBk 255 X
Master
Best
Python
these are there brands
I would like a direct replacement, should I get a 305 tpi fuel pump?
Are there kits, are they worth it?
What all is needed from the store to get the job done "parts wise"
"i will be cutting a hole for mine, and resealing with a door/seal/hinges."
i think i'll agree with the tpi pump being fine for most 305s. imho you don't even have to change/adjust your fuel pressure regulator for it. if you ever need more fuel pressure, you can easily crank it up with this pump, otherwise it's a good stock replacement. dunno about any kits, but you can find one on ebay quickly that includes everything needed.
I know cutting a hole is "not the right way to do it"
But im married, have no friends where I currently live, just dont have the manpower to drop my rear and tank, its got Half a tank still
Not to mention im pretty handy with my tools and think I can make a pretty safe/decent looking door.
I want to have the access door just in case some day it does go out on me again, I will not need a tow truck, im the kinda person that carries a loaded toolbox around in his car, and if it breaks ill fix it on spot. "maybe"
As for the pump, I can just get the 5.0 TPI pump, which is on the Iroc?
Getting ready to hit up the stores in about an hour
I need a strainer
Just put a new filter on, but wth ill get another
fuel pump
What kinda gaskets do I need? Will the ring be reusable ?
I bought the ac delco ep241 fuelpump. I was fit it last week. I´m very happy with it. In the package was everything i need to swap the pump.
I would never cut a hole in my hatch bottom to change the pump. Remove the rearaxle and the fueltank. Just ask a friendly neighbour to help you.
It´s not too much work. 6 hours with everything.
Sorry for my bad english. I hope you know what i mean.
Just got from the zone
New 305 TPI fuel pump for my TBI was like 66$
New strainer like 12$
New Filter 10$
New Pump Connector/harness 18$
It came with some gaskets
Im not seeing this thick tubing like i seen on other sites, It looks to have tubing in the bag, but its pretty small, like aquarium size. Can I reuse to old one if its in decent shape? Can any hose be used ? or they special because of the fuel?
I took the thick tube to the trash, the thick tube with the two stock plastic clamps. I used a piece new fuel tube with metal clamps ( you must fit metal clamps, you´ve got higher pressure in your system ). The new piece of tube should be fuelresistant !!
yeah that's a good point, if you dont have EFI hose (fuel resistant and high pressure) yet, get hold of a suitable piece and you might as well also substitute the worm-type clamps.
What ever you do get SAE 30R10 hose between fuel pump output and feed through. Do not use anything else or in time you'll be sitting by the side of the road waiting for tow. SAE 30R10 house is specifically designed for fuel immersion and high pressure operation found in tank applications. You can get a foot long section from www.mcmaster.com
Thanks RF ! Wonder if the local parts stores will cary those sae 30r10's !
I would have got ac delco, but they didnt have it,
I would have spent the extra 20$ and got the walbro 255 but
didnt want to have to plum in a different fuel pressure regulator since thats going to cost few 100's for the steel lines and stuff.
Strainer sits on the bottom of the pump while the filter
sits inline between TBI and gas tank.
Hopefully this gas proof hose doesnt cost me a /arm

Try Napa Auto parts
SAE J30R10 Submersible fuel hose Gates product #42195185, part # 27093, Napa parts #H209 in 12" lengths 5/16" ID. ~$20 (IRC it should be 3/8"!) For what ever reason very few Napa stores carry SAE J30R10 Submersible fuel hose Gates product #42196184, part #27097, Napa parts #H213 in 12" lengths 3/8" ID. Call them and ask..
