Hey everyone. I'm replacing my distributor with the correct TBI HEI distributor this year, and I'm also tossing up the idea of installing a new MSD ignition as well. My starter solenoid clicks a couple times before it starts now and I am wondering if I'm planning on building this motor, should I upgrade the whole ignition for more spark? Will an MSD work with a TBI? What do you guys think?

Works good. Just follow the wiring diagram that comes with it.

I've been looking into this a bit. I was going to spend the extra cash to get a Pertronix Second Strike, but all the evidence I read said that any box is not going to increase your HP. Some articles added boxes, but then changed the timing. I would like to see apples to apples data where any box improved HP or fuel economy.

From personal experience, I had a friend with an old Nova. His HEI distrib. took a dump and I let him borrow my msd distrib and 6-AL box. All I can tell ya is it ran a whole lot smoother at idle, really like night and day. Don't know if that meant his old dist was bad, coil or module were bad etc, but it made a difference.

If I get anything, I am just going to get a 6-A box for $160. I got a rev limiter in my ECU.

MSD is good $$$ . Replaced my Accel wires with msd wires, and that alone made a big throttle response difference
