REbuilding an L03 need some advice

Hey guys let me give you the situation first:

The camaro has an l03 that knocks. I assume it blew a rod as it knocks at all rpms. So I found a guy selling an L03 just the block with crank rods cam and pistons. No heads.

My question is this will my heads from the blown 305 mount right over to the new block or is it possible those heads are damaged?

Also the person who sold me the engine (100 dollars) said it has a different cam in it but not sure on specs. The heads that were on it originally he believes were milled but not sure.

I'm also getting a new distributor and spark plug wires.

Anything I should be looking out for?

Re: REbuilding an L03 need some advice

Would be a good idea to pull the rod bearing caps off and replace those bearings at the very least. Yes your current heads should work just fine. Also may want to swap the cam with your original one if you dunno what cam is in the new engine, TBI cars use a MAP system of engine management and they don't take too kindly to mods without a custom tune or chip.
