Going from carb to TBI (manifold question)

So if I have a carbed car, can I just remove the carb and throw an adapter and TBI unit on top of the carb manifold? I've been reading this (TBI) forum a bit and I've seen alot of mention about TBI specific manifolds and it has me wondering if I will need to buy a new manifold or if I can just use an adapter on my current manifold?

Re: Going from carb to TBI (manifold question)

the method you described, using an adaptor, will work. Just be sure to purchase the correct adaptor, there are different adaptors for square and spreadbore manifolds. if you are currently running a q-jet you'll need the spreadbore adaptor. Just to be clear, i assume you are familiar with the rest of the supporting mods required to convert to TBI. ie: fuel pump, electronics ...

I believe holley's adapter is drilled for both versions? I've got one kicking around the toolbox from an intake swap I did a few years back. I'll take a look when I get home.
