I just rebuilt a 350tbi in a 91 rs. I put a Lunati Voodoo cam. 268. It is bored .060 over. anyways. The other day when I started it up for the first time, everything worked. The timing light functioned normal. Yesterday: I started the car trying to get everything lined out. It sounded like it had a couple of dead cylinders. We stuck the timing light back on, and no light. The light will read off every wire except 1 & 2. I tried switching the plug wires. That didn't work. I then replaced the cap and button. No luck. then the coil... then ignition control module... still nothing? So, I then redid all the grounds on the car. Somewhere in this process, I got the car running. It is kinda running on all 8. however: I do know that I am still not getting adequate spark to the front 2 cylinders. (they are firing, but the timing light is not reading them.) When I rev the motor, the light starts picking up. I do know, the firing order is right. I checked it several times. I also know that the distributor is not 180 out. Has anybody else ran into this problem on here? Or, does anybody else know what could be wrong??

instead of just buying things try working backwards. take out a plug and see if it fires on the wire just having it sit outside the engine. if that does not work but a different plug on the end and see if that fires. if that does not work take that plug and using a wire you think is good - put the plug on the end of that wire and see if it fires. if it doesn't you have a bad plug.
if not work back and take the plug wire off and see if it is passing the right current. if the wire is not working ok then try a new one.
if it appears to be ok take a wire off a good cylinder - plug it in in the bad position in the distributor then try it again. if it does not work - then the wire is not the problem and look at the distributor.
and work your way back.

now if the spark plug fires you have a real problem. make sure it fires in sequence.
run a compression test on the head - if you dont have compression that is where your problems start.
pull the valve covers and look for a collapsed valve.

I have compression. the plug is firing. just not a strong enough spark to let my timing light read it. I had extra parts laying around the garage. I have owned several of these cars. I have done process of elimination. the spark plug does not prevent current from traveling down the wire.
