Throttle Position Sensor? Bogging down problem...

Just recently in my 88 camaro with a 305 I have had a problem with bogging down. No matter what gear im in (its a 5 spd) if you get into it too quickly it bogs way down and doesnt recover until you ease out and back in on the accelerator. If you start out by easing into the throttle it does ok but takes a while to get up to speed. I am thinking its a throttle positon sensor. Any other ideas? Thanks

Hank

TPS - Probably not - but you can easily check TPS with DVM to make sure that it does not have a worn spot at near WOT position. Basically, with engine off, ignition on measure Pin B (backprobe connector, do not damage harness) voltage of the TPS connector relative to ground (Pin A). Voltage should change smoothly from about 0.6 volts at idle to about 4.3 - 4.6 VDC at WOT.

Most likely it is your fuel pump on the last legs. Check TPS as outlined above to exclude TPS out of your trouble tree.

The fuel pump was just replaced less than 1000 miles ago. This is a restoration car. Fuel Pump was going bad when we got it and we replaced it.

The only way to get to root cause is to check, measure & verify.

Bad MAP sensor may cause rich condition and loss of power at WOT. Do you have SES light indicating DTC codes??? If not get a paper clip and short pins A&B on ALDL connector.

Even new pumps are known to fail - verify your fuel pressure.
