| Emissions Control Woes... Hi all,
I was cleaning up the Throttle body on my '86 Camaro Berlinetta 2.8l V6 engine about two weeks ago, doing the short bursts of TB Cleaner and running it through the exhaust *after* disconnecting the MAF Sensor, but something went sour. The engine starting bogging down and idling irratically. It'd rev itself up to 2500 RPMs, then back down to 500. It was worrying me, so we started doing some quick troubleshooting. WE unhooked the Evap canister, and it stopped. My brother in law suggested it was the Evaporative Emissions Canister, and after searching 10 different Junk Yards and 20 or so different Third Gen Camaro bodies, I got my hands on two good Evap Canisters W/ CAnister Purge Valves. Well, I changed them out, TWICE, and it still bogs down and eventually stalls while idling with the Evap canister's electrical attached to the Canister Purge Valve. I'm completely stumped, and the only idea I've thought up since then is it could be an electrical thing since I had a shop replace the Fan relay, and they did a complete hack job at it. I'm going through the rewiring on that now, but thought maybe someone can save me some time (And $) on this new project(Turned commuter) car. Any and all input/ideas is greatly appreciated! Thanks guys.
