L05 ECM retarding timing

Hi guys,
Stock internals, headers and exhaust 1993 L05 in my Caprice.

The car has been running like Cr@p, did all the tune up stuff, no Joy.

checked timing, it was correct at 0 W/spark control unplugged.
Then I reconnected, reved the motor and noticed that the spark was being retarded almost to the point that I couldn't see the mark! (timing mark moves almost back to the powers teering pump)

Prior to running poorly, I had to run high octane to keep from pinging.
What gives, Knock sensor?

Re: L05 ECM retarding timing

HMMM,

used WINALDL to check it out and it shows 0 knock count from the knock sensors? Seems like it should be showing SOME knock.

Maybe it is a dead knock sensor, but why would if pull timing if it detects no knock?

I heard WINALDL may not fully support my '93 computer
