Fuel system problem????

I'm wondering if I'm headed in the right direction my fuel pump just went out the connector at the rear has three wires black-ground, purple-level gauge, grey-pump power. The purple reads about 11 volts and the grey is reading about 6 or 7 volts is this a relay problem and is it located by the brake cylnder?? I have continuety across the pump. 1992 Camaro 305 TBI swapped to a 1973/350 TBI I had to relocate the oil pressure censor from just above the oil filter on the 305 to the side of the distributor on the 350. I know oil pressure has something to do with fuel pump just thought I would throw that in there.

Re: Fuel system problem????

The fuel pump power should have battery voltage. If not, the pump will either not work properly, or not at all. Also, the oil pressure sender (as far as the pump is concerned), just provides a second source of power should the relay fail in operation. Its somewhat of a hold-over from the "choke" light on the carb cars.

Re: Fuel system problem????

Well I replaced the fuel relay and oil pressure sender but I have just dicovered that I am loosing voltage to the relay and oil pressure sender when I turn the key to the on postion now I'm thinking it is an ignition switch issue or a ground issue coming off the fuel pump connector. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
