Headers

I have done a lot of research and i cant find a answer, other then hooker 2055 headers seem to be the best, but will the 2055 - Hooker Street Force Headers be a waste and will they fit a 91 tbi engine even though it stops at 1990 i cant see why they wouldnt fit.

Re: Headers

Any header designed for a GenI small block will work. The reason they put limitations on the years is for the brakets and adapters they give you in the kit for your front accessories. You might have to replace and or relocate front accessory braces with a set of headers that aren't listed for your specific model year. The Hooker 2055's are the best bang for the buck headers out there for our cars. The edelbrocks are less than ideal.

Are don's headers not considered "out there"? On the market? I'm just curious as to his headers vs. hooker 2055's.

Yes indeed! I always forget that he is now producing these at a higher volume. From those that have them they are regarded as one of the "best" for these cars in terms of quality and performance. Not sure how they compare on cost. I think you will be happy either way. The benefit with Don's is that I am pretty sure you can order them without AIR and with special accommodations to tailor to your combo. Before Don's though the 2055's were considered one the best sets. The 2055's perform very well out of the box, are well made, and have true 1-5/8" primaries and a true 3" y-pipe. Thanks for the reminder!

They have smaller primaries and they don't have a true 3" y-pipe. I heard read a lot of quality problems as well. Stay away from the TBI specific edelborck headers. They have small primaries and stock diameter y-pipe. Lots of money for marginal gain in power
