Alright guys, can you figure this one out? 0 oil pressure when gunning it.

Need a quit diagnosis from the experts here.

Car: 88 base camaro, 305 tbi, 5 speed manual.
Issue: Just started today.

1. The oil pressure gauge is fluctuating a lot all of a sudden, and it drops all the way to zero if I strain the engine (like when I go quick from a stop.)

2. Check engine light comes on right away, sometimes it shuts back off if I drive REAL easy. It always used to come on whenever I hit freeway speeds for more than a few minutes, but then it would shut back off when I got off of the freeway. It's never been on during regular street driving before.

3. When I started it up today (kinda cold out, but not THAT bad) it didn't want to stay alive, had to keep givin it gas to keep it from dieing. Got better once I started to drive it, but even then, every once in a while, while accelerating from a stop, it would kinda give out for half a second or so. Like, I'd be giving it about 1/4 or 1/2 throttle and it would have 1 or 2 little half-second blips of 0 throttle.

I'm thinking either the oil pump or the sending unit. What do you guys think? Thanks for any help.

Plumb in a manual oil pressure gauge for testing purposes to make sure. There is another oil pressure port on the side of the block just above the oil filter boss that you should be able to get at, otherwise you'll have to do it at the port on the top by the distributor. Start there and let us know.
