As thread title states the gal just won't idle without feathering the throttle. I've posted in "engine forum & electronics forum" because I can't figure out which is at fault. No luck in either, need help. Here is the problem-car sat for two year's and ran fine. Decided to revive it but wouldn't keep a charge w/ new battery. Replaced alt. and cured problem. Detailed engine compartment by degreasing, removing squirrel debris, etc. Left motor running while rinsing engine off & idled fine. Go & start next morning but it won't idle barely runs while putting in gear. Getting plenty of fuel at injectors ( cone-shape both sides ). It starts but won't idle on it's own. Could I have fried something when I hosed down the engine bay? Any suggestions would be a god-send, thanks again.

hey I just had the same problem. you need to check your fuel line pressure and possibly change the fuel pump. changing the pump isn't fun but it could be the problem.
I agree on the fuel pump. A dying pump will produce some pressure, produce a cone spray from the injectors, and fool you into thinking there is enough. A quick fuel pressure test will tell for sure. If you see less than 9 than your pump is dying.
Thanks for the advice, I don't have a fuel pressure guage but where would I hook it up in the line if I picked one up? Also I will try the paperclip to see if any codes are thrown. I did replace the fuel filter before it sat about 2 years.
Hate to go off subject..... I just did a 305 to 350 conversion in my 90 marow... idles like a mustang, crappy. You fellers think my fuel pump isn't pumping enough for my new injectors, I've been trying to diagnose the problem for two weeks.....

You can rent an Acron unit at Autozone and it will splice into the feed lines that run along the driver side frame rail. Just to the side of the exhaust manifolds.

You are in desparate need of ECM tuning. Check out the DIY prom board. Everything is off with your tune and you will have to start learning to burn your own chips. In the meantime if you can find an 350 TBI chip out of a caprice car your car will run better. This is assuming you dropped in a stock 350 TBI.
I am having similar issues with my 1992 RS 305 TBI. On a cold start it will start then quickly idle down and die, unless I rev the hell out of it and give it alot of gas for several minutes. After that first cold start it will be fine for the rest of the day. Any help here?
