dont know where to go from here !

88 lo3 runs rich , i have gone through 2 o2 sensors , new map sensor, no vaccume leaks , new AC delco pluggs , new msd blaster coil , freshly rebuilt "gaskets & filters" tb , new idle air temp sensor , new plugg cables , pluggs are gapped @ .35 , running 91 octane , tried advancing timing to see if it would help but it just ran worse , no SES light or codes , brand new coolant temp sensor , it used to run even more rich than how it runs right now and that was due to an exhaust leak @ the exhaust manifold "fixed*" but still runs rich , could running the car under rich conditions have messed up a sensor that is making it run rich? i really dont know what else could be wrong

I think it's like 13 to 20 psi range or something like that. Doesn't the TBI unit have a built in FPR?

Re: dont know where to go from here !

It Would think so,and maybe thats the problem.that why I suggest checking your fuel pressure.and a good time to upgrayd if thats the problem.could be a bad diaphram in the regulator.

Isn't this his second tbi unit though with the same existing problem? If so, I would be looking elsewhere for the real culprit.

its 9-13 stock , 13 and up is a mod. , ok the built in fuel regulator is the brass dome shaped chamber that sits on the rubber diaphragm ? right ?

How does the spray pattern look coming from your injectors? Is it a cone shaped spray? are there drips? Those can also make the car seem like it's running rich because the fuel isn't properly atomizing.

Well, it's always possible that something was botched with the rebuild on the tbi unit. does it blow smoke out the rear like a diesel? ha ha.

Re: dont know where to go from here !

It could be, or maybe it might just be out of adjustment per say.. I know those things can be made into adjustable. I'd just take the thing apart and rebuild it myself so I know that it's done right anyways. Or, you could go hit up the local jy and see how much they want for one. They'd probably be using one for a doorstop ha ha! I know that when I had a wiring problem is wasn't getting a good spray and my girl smoked like a damn train at the slightest throttle! very embarrassing at a stoplight.

Re: dont know where to go from here !

i did the rebuild myself i bought a rebuild kit from autozone , as for the regulator isnt it non-adjustable since its inside the pod and in order to make it adjustable you have to drill out a hole or something like that ? i might hit up the junkyard tomorrow, see what i find " but i would be more comfortable using new parts" as for the diaphragm , how can i tell if its bad ? h and also there was this little ball bearing thing on the regulator , is it supposed to move freely ? , because it didnt .

Re: dont know where to go from here !

went to the yard today and found a tbi unit from a 89 caprice with a 305 in it " no injectors" and i got the diaphragm , brought it home switched it out with my old "new" one and tried it out , smoke went away for a while .... and my injector on the drivers side drips with half a cone spray , so this week i will be sending them to witch hunter and just wait for results.
