HELLO EVERYONE. I AM NEW TO THIS FIRST TIME EVER DOING SOMETHING LIKE THIS. MY CAR IS A 1991 CAMARO RS 305 TBI REBUILT WITH A EDELBROCK PERFORMER CAM AND NEW TIMMING CHAIN HEADS WERE BUILT TO STOCK. I HAVE HEADERS AND A Y-PIPE NO CAT TO A FLOWMASTER MUFFLER. NEW DISTRIBUTOR AND CAP AND ROTOR AND PLUGS. NEW MAP SENSOR AND ALL VACUM LINES. THE CAR WAS RUNNING GREAT INTO YESTERDAY WHEN IT JUST STARTED TO RUN VERY ROUGH LIKE IT WAS MISSING THE ONLY WAY IT RUNS IF I HOLD THE GAS PEDEL DOWN AND IT RUNS BAD. I REALLY NEED ANY HELP. THANKS ALOT AND I HAVE A HYPERTECH COMPUTER CHIP IT WAS MADE FOR A 92 CAMARO. I DONT KNOW IF THIS CAUSE ANY PROBLEM I HAVE THE STOCK CHIP IN NOW AND STILL DOES THE SAME.

I CANT DO THAT CANT KEEP THE CAR IDLEING. IT STARTS RIGHT UP BUT I HAVE TO KEEP HOLDING THE PEDEL DOWN AND AS I AM DOING THAT IT SOUNDS REALLY ROUGH. NOW THE NEW PLUGS ARE COATED WITH BLACK RESIDUE NOT OIL.

I JUST UNPLUGGED MY Electronic Spark Control Module AND IT MADE NO DIFFERENCE IAM WONDERING IF THIS IS MY PROBLEM BUT I WOULD HATE TO WASTE ANOTHER $70.
Sounds like when my fuel pump went out. Started to feel like a miss then got worse until it ran like sh!t all the time. Wouldn't idle and had no power either. Could be your problem.
You might also check your plug wires. Look and see if any of them rubbed against the exhaust and burned a wire out. Had that happen to and it feels similar.

You should test continuity on the plugs wires one by one, and then double and triple check your firing order and check timing. New plug wires are often bad, you might have missed the firing order, and with the upgrades timing probably needs adjusted. Also make double sure all boots are securely on the lugs - I had one pop off just enough to mess up the running, but didn't look like it was off once and car ran like crap.

i see two problems with your setup...
1. hyper chips are junk..... all they do is lower the fans and mess with timing and a few other things... it maybe for a 92 camaro but you added a cam and probably messed up what that tune is good for...
2. you need to get a heated oxygen sensor... with headers its going to be hard for it to get a decent reading... the stock unheated sensor with headers will cause it to idle funky and die on you at times and its going to be worse because you added a little bigger cam in....

nice gta. so what should i do get a new temp sensor? i know my is old. i tried a different old one and it did nothing i dont now if it even works. i think my car is spitting out to much fuel. you can smell it and the brand new plugs maybe after 5min of starting it and holding the gas down so it stays running the plugs are black already.i still think it might be the Electronic Spark Control Module and the chip fried it.. when i un plug it the car still acts the same.thats my theory but i hate to spend another $70-80 on something that iam not sure.

thanks man...well first what are the specs of that cam.... it may or may not be computer friendly..... i say its in the tune..... heated sensor you need the 3 wire sensor the wire harness adapter and i grounded mine to the fuel pump so the sensor is only on when the car is running.... that sensor made a world of difference with my idle and got rid of that "roaming" idle
Due to the fact you say it just started, and you imply it was fine with the mods you have, we know the mods are not the problem (unless a part went bad).
You mentioned a temperature sensor.
You can save a lot of time by using a scanner to look at the sensor to make sure it’s reporting correctly.

YES THE CAR WAS RUNNINR AWESOME VERY FAST. ALL OF A SUDEN I PULLED INTO MY DADS DRIVWAY AND IT GOT SO ROUGH AND STALLED AND EVER SINCE THAT MOMENT IT HAS BEEN RUNNING LIKE ITS ON 3 CYLINDAS I CANT KEEP IT IDLING. I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW TEMP SENSOR REDID THE TIMMING ALL OVER AGAIN TODAY AND CHANGE TBI WITH ALL SENSORS AND STILL RAN LIKE CRAP. I AM THINKING IT MIGHT BE THE FUEL PRESSURE I AM ORDERING A GAUGE ON EBAY TODAY. IT STAYS RUNNING WHEN I HIT THE GAS BUT IT SOUNDS AND FEELS LIKE IT HAS NO POWER.

I CHECKED ALL FUSES ALL GOOD. I ORDERED A FUEL PUMP TEST KIT WITH THE TBI ADAPTER AND SHOULD BE GETTING IT TOMORROW SO I CAN TEST THE FUEL PRESSURE. I HOPE THAT THIS IS THE PROBLEM BECAUSE I REALLY MISS DRIVING MY CAR.
JUST BOUGHT A '92 RS 25TH ANNIV. WITH TEE TOPS AND IT HAS A V8 305. THIS IS MY FISRT ONE. LESS THAN 78,000 ORIGINAL MILES. RUNS GREAT BUT AT TIMES THE PRESSURE GAUE WITH MOVE AROUND AND I GET THIS IDLE SURGE FOR ONE SECOND THEN IT QUITS. GOES AWAY AFTER I DRIVE IT FOR ABOUT 5-10 MINS BUT THEN THE SERVICE LIGHT COMES ON. WAS TOLD THAT IT MAYBE THE OIL PRESSURE SENSOR. WHERE IS IT? I HAVE TO FIX IT BEFORE I CAN GET IT REGISTERED. EMMISSIONS TEST. ANY HELP?
YOU SHOULD OF HAD IT CHECKED OUT BY A MECHANIC FIRST. HOPEFULLY ITS JUST THE SENSOR NOT THE OIL PUMP. I JUST REPLACED MY BECAUSE I BROKE IT WHEN I PUT THE ENGINE IN. THE SENSOR IS LOCATED ON THE DRIVERS SIDE BY THE OIL FILTER ITS NOT HARD TO CHANGE IT. YOU NEED A BIG SOCKET TO FIT IT THATS WHAT I USED. WHEN YOU REPLACE IT AND IT STILL DOES THAT IT MIGHT BE THE OIL PUMP AND THATS A BIG JOB. OR IT COULD BE A SHORT IN THE SENSOR. LET ME KNOW WHAT HAPPENS.
