Nice dude!! Your 305 is pushing some heat!! I would love to see some 1/4 times!
Tell me please, and be honest, do you really get 24mpg on the freeway with those 4.10's!??! Im in need of a rear swap and want to go 3.73's or 3.42's but am contemplating on freeway speeds because this is my DD once again.

Ghettobird ... If u have an auto trans and want decent mpg ho 3.43 .... If ur not too worried about MPg go 3.73 and use a 28" tall tire to take some gear out ... If u have a T5 go straight to 3.73 .... With 4.10's and 28.5" tall tire I'm basically running a 3.80 gear ... All gear ratios are based on a 26" tire .... And right now 75mph is about 2500rpm

im confused what do you mean? (sorry dont know speed/racing lingo lol)
Yeah man i got the lazy 700r4! Im honestly getting ready (couple months) to be doing a rear swap and was in debate between 3.42's and 3.73's Im still running stock 26" with the 2.73's and this thing has NO get up from a dead stop. Once i have the gears/tranny spinning slightly around 1800-2000 all the torque is just ready for action. Tranny is also leaking so was going to get it built slightly with a shift kit, corvette servo and a 2000rpm stall. When i was going to rear swap i was probably going to upgrade to bigger tires as well, what rims are you running? and no problems with rear wheel wells? The car is my DD right now but i use my moms (dont make fun of me lol) beater when im doing any long distance freeway driving so i think i will be ok with 3.73's idk though.
And 3.73 with auto trans would b about the same as 4,10's with 5speed as far as cruising speed .. So u would b running bout 2500rpm @ 70mph with 3.73 and 26" tire ... And I'm running C6 wheels with 2" spacers and can run a 28.5 by 10" tire with minimal modification if any
91' bird 305 TBI T-5, trick flow 175 cc heads, 4.10 gears, lots of suspension upgrades......... 24mpg @ 2300rpm hwy 65mph ........ 8.63@ 85mph 1/8th on street tires... 8.000's soon

**** well thats not too bad, and i dont do much freeway driving so i think i can pass with 3.73's! Well im off to under my car tomorrow with the sawzall hacking off my old exhaust system installing my hookers 2055's and getting my magnaflow cat & flowmaster catback welded up on saturday. Hopefully looking to pick up some lost hp/tq from my shitty exhaust system, has exhaust leaks all down it! it's horrible

Yea I think some custom stepped headers would really wake this thing up with the proper exhaust ... And hopefully I can get the primaries tuned to a good length ... I may buy a mini starter before even attempting this so I have a lil more room to play with ... These 1.5" primary. Shorties are killing it IMO
Edit: or if anyone wants to donate some longtubes for a broke *** laid off thirdgenner that would b great too lol

Some of y'all know where my air filter is located ... So I got bored last night n did this .. It ain't reap pretty but should work to keep a high pressure area around the filter instead of low pressure ... Lmk what u think .... I'm eventually gonna make the whole panel out of aluminum

Dude! Awesome build thread!!! I just took an hour reading everything and going through your post. I'm glad you went this way! I wanted to before and this is legit. Go to a dyno place as they can help with you tuning problem. I am going to be dyno'ing my stock lo3 later today and then decide if I want my lt1 cam tossed in there. Im asuming 160ish. hopefully. A floor dyno/chassis dyno should be able to help you get the proper tune and get your numbers! Then you need to go out and start stompin on some 4th gens xD

Re: LO3 rebuild (HP estimates?)
That cam is probably almost perfect when you get the proper tune itl be legit.
As for my dyno run. With the full exhaust no cat, 3.73s 5 spd and 10 degree adavanced base timing I made 155 hp and 200 tq.Which about 10 more horsepower then factory rating at the crank which was 170 and then also about 10-20 pounds of tq as well at the crank. I wanna see some videos man. Keep up the build! As for me im gonna do a 350 vortec swap here probably in the next couple days.

And on the cam it is a good combo but I wish I woulda went up to 218-220@.050 with a 114 lsa or atleast went with 112 lsa with the current specs
The lift is right in the sweet spot for the heads with the 1.6 rockers

When I built it I planned on it pulling to 6k as my shift point so it does what I intended it to do but there is still a lot left in it with bolt ons ...
The intake is prolly hurting me right now as it was port matched to the factory lo3 heads which had much larger runners ... So my manifold ports are way bigger than the head ports ... I still trying to decide whether to use a small low rise single plane or go with a performer rpm dual plane ...
But exhaust is gonna give me the most bang for the buck at this point replacing the tiny 1.5" primary shorties wth some 1.75" long tubes and replacing the crush bent bs with mandrel would really wake it up IMO
Right now it pulls really hard from 4k-5500 with everything above I believe I could break 8.00's 1/8th quite easily with 90+ mph traps in 3 gears

Ya trying to find a straight roller ta. Formula or gta... as long as it's in decent shape with no body damage that's all that matters cause I have a whole car to swap parts over

I would love to see the next version built with a nice 2,600-2,800 stalled TH350 or 700r4. A properly built auto will give you much better consistancy and help you bring that 60' time and ET down.

Going to pick the roller up Fri or Sat have pics of it then ... but I don't expect much for FREE! My dad has seen it and it has a good body needs paint but I have everything on the other car to make it complete ! I'm hoping it has the nice ta hood and tail lights etc still on it I already know it has no motor trans or interior but still has the 16" factory gold lace wheels !! ... hopefully the wiring hasn't been tampered with :-/

if its not a tbi car, and its tpi, that would be a sweet swap, just run the factory stuff for a while, then get a hsr or mini ram and better intake runners, that thing will pulll hard... to 5000 rpm stock... lol

Re: LO3 rebuild (HP estimates?)
Not too much reason to change to a stock TPI style setup imho.
Wiring shouldn't be hard even if it's different. 88 TA might be MAF if was a TPI car. You can just use your old car's harness or parts of it. Should be no biggie.
Nice to hear you are putting it in another shell T56 sounds good, need a shorter rear tho maybe.

I was saying if it was tpi itd have the harness to run it so youd have to get the intake and the runners and other little things. Tpi will choke anything down itl get ahold of if its completey stock lol

Actualy it won't really choke a 305 unless you are spinning over 6,000 rpm. The stock runners stall out around 350 hp in terms of airflow.

I had drums from factory .. and I have a cheap aluminum rear cover with the supports so it should.l b good ... I think the wink link is the T5 right now that's y I never put sticky tires on it when I went to track always street tires .. think the Lil 305 did pretty good to run 8.5 1/8th on street tires & 2.1-2.2 60's lol and still not tuned quite right

Seriously thinking about a different cam while it's out .. single pattern, 218/218, 112 Lsa , .550 lift , something like that
Cam now is 214/218 114 Lsa .488/.495 lift but I run 1.6 RA so it's .520/.528

Re: LO3 rebuild (HP estimates?)
what is your bottom end built to handle rpm wise? but yeah imho can't hurt to step up some in lift tho, duration range may be ok as is depending on power peak and at the given runner volume?
a t56 will probably survive any abuse you could throw at it just fine.. not sure how long that 10 bolt would last with some stickier tires tho
