Crazyness!!!! Need your Input!

So one day I was going to get gas and I had just driving a long distance so I didnt want to kill the engine (cause I have the problem with the starter over heating and not working) anyways... after I took off the gas cap (engine still on) there was so much pressure that air never stopped blowing out. It was almost like there was a fan blowing out that never stopped. Has anyone ever experience this or something similar? Also if anyone knows what causes this.

Re: Crazyness!!!! Need your Input!

that's pretty normal. Could just be your gas cap.

A burst of pressure when the cap is removed can be normal.

What you're describing is NOT normal. HOW LONG did the air blow out of the filler neck?

There is something wrong with your tank venting system, charcoal canister, and/or the plumbing that connects the various parts together.

How long? It never stopped, it kept blowing for like 30seconds maybe longer then I finally decided to shut off the engine. Then it stopped.

I have ABSOLUTELY no idea how that can happen--but something is NOT RIGHT in your tank venting system.

When you figure this out, let us know. I'm stumped. The only sources of pressure I can think of are the exhaust system or the A.I.R. system. How either one of those could pressurize the fuel tank is beyond me.

I would suspect it has something to do with the engine running. Has it done it since then? Even when the engine is off?
