can you a roots blower with vortech heads and keep the tbi functional with most emission stuff and all.. with the vortec heads it will lower the compression and superchargers like that dont they? so i am wondering if maybe that 144 blower will work with vortec heads cheap and nice set up.. tell me some opnions..
thanks

all the little mods, coming soon lt1 cam install and 3.42 gears with posi and vette servo... waiting for a lil time and money...
sweet, maybe i should look in summitt and jegs a little closer.. the supercharger would have to be a vortec style roots blower since the roots blower comes with its own base right? i am just seeing what i want to do since i am getting a pretty nice size tax return. also how much boost does one of those superchargers push? do they push around 8 psi?
Shawn
www.sdpc2000.com use to have Vortec heads drilled and taped, bigger springs, with screw in studs for about $600. I think they still do but you have to call them. I got an error when I tried to put in the part number into the website.
The kit i ordered was for the 86 only with serpentine.
The vortec heads already have pre 87 bolt battern.
As far as 8psi from a 144 roots, no way. The boost on a roots works differently than centrifugal. The 144 will be making boost nearly off idle, it does not really have to spin up like a centrifugal.
You will probably see 3-5psi from a roots, but trust me its plenty. Traction in first gear is nearly impossible because of the low end torque.
This is a good cheap way to make serious power, but beware of hood clearance. Here is a pic of my car with the scoop.
