LT1 timing chain / gear

Hey all, I got an LT1 cam and the guy was nice enough to send me the stock LT1 timing chain and gear from a 96 SS. It has 36k on it, and my stocker has 117k... will the LT1 chain go right on or will it not fit due to scary LT1 stuff that I probably dont understand?

Thanks (:

it will go on ( think) but its only a single roller chain. Since LT1 has a gear driven water pump, it can't run a true double roller timing chain like the Gen 1 small block chevys.

Yea, Id like to have a double chain, but I figure that at best with heads/cam/intake (hopefully) I'll be mid 13s, so the lt1 set will be fine, and I'd imainge just about anything is better than the stocker which is about as loose as _______ (insert obscene comment here).

Thanks Taz! (:

Another Timing Chain/Gear Question

I'd like to install a gear drive system (I like the way they sound), but all of them I've look at say "not for use with OEM roller cams." Does anyone know why the wont work.

From what I have heard the gear drive makes the knock sensor think that the engine is detonating and retards the timing. Which makes the engine run retarded .
