Z28 Tire Size..

I have an '86 Z28 with stock 15 inch wheels. I need new tires and I'm not going to upgrade the rims yet. Anybody know what's that biggest tire I can go with?

I currently have 215/65/R15

Tire shops say I can go to 225 or 235 but they said they're not sure. Just wondering what works for you guys.

Thanks.

235/60/15 all the way around works great and won;t even throw off your speedo.

Thanks guys...I was thinking about going with the 235's....one shop here said it was too big, but I think it will work.

235/60R15 was actually optional on the 86. i believe it was standard on the L69 models.

will 295/50/15 fit under an 86 z28 on the rear with 15x8 with 4.5 backspace?

235/60r15 was an optional tire size, I wouldn't go back to that shop. Go on tire rack and it should list 215/65r15 as factory, 235/60r15 as optional. If you were doing a rim upgrade you could do 245/50r16 with no problems as well.

Re: Z28 Tire Size..

I am running 255/60/15 in the rear. Pretty good clearance and doesn't rub.

Re: Z28 Tire Size..

those 245/50/16 are a low profile tire and harder to find. I have 16 inch rims in the front and switched from the stock 245/50/16 size to a 225/60/16. They look beefier too.
